✦ AI summary

Players criticize the game for severe technical issues including lag, stuttering, and poor performance relative to its graphics quality, along with repetitive level design and unfair difficulty spikes that make progression feel inconsistent. The controls are described as sluggish and unresponsive, and the game lacks features like achievements, while combat encounters feel tedious and boss fights are seen as cheap and punishing. A few players appreciate the old-school roguelike design philosophy, though the general consensus is that technical problems and design choices make it difficult to rec

I hit a button and have to wait and see whether it goes media mail, standard post, or next day delivery based on the games lag RNG. I love a lot of games with graphics and game-play like this game is suppose/tries to be. The same mobs in one room dungeons with the same drops not very rewarding or diverse of a game. Janky Laggy mess how does a game with this style of graphics perform so terribly. Doesn't even have achievements for torturing yourself to play. Super crappy and unfair spike in difficulty around level 20+ the games super easy and repetitive then gets unfair and near impossible with corny near cheating boss fights combine with miserable stuttering Game-play. If this broken game ever got fixed it may be worth playing but at this point i wouldn't waste my time, in a few months i might try it again but i have my doubts it will be fixed, there are much better games then this to play. It could have been a neat little game 2.5/10

Took a million steps but got nowhere. Controls felt like a sleepy cat typing. Even the shadows quit and took a nap instead.

Eternal Step is a punishing, old-school roguelike action title developed by Once More With Gusto and published by Green Man Gaming Publishing that places mechanical mastery and persistence above all else. From the very first moments, the game makes its philosophy clear: survival is earned, progress is temporary, and failure is an expected part of the journey. Rather than guiding players through a structured narrative or easing them into its systems, Eternal Step throws them directly into an unforgiving descent through an endless tower where every floor can spell the end of a run. This design choice immediately establishes a tone of tension and seriousness that defines the entire experience. The core gameplay loop revolves around descending deeper into a procedurally generated tower made up of more than a hundred floors, each populated with enemies, hazards, and occasional rewards. Combat is fast, deliberate, and often brutal, demanding precise timing, positioning, and awareness of enemy patterns. Attacks are simple on the surface, but mistakes are costly, and hesitation can be just as lethal as recklessness. Enemies hit hard, traps punish careless movement, and the game rarely off…

2015... I can't even remember any roguelikes that were good in terms of quality. Unfortunately, this game didn't succeed. The combat mechanics and visuals leave much to be desired, but perhaps someone has a different opinion...

Definetly worth a try

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…
