The follow-up prequel to the mysterious Flan's MS (I don't know what MS stands for), Flan's BN is a story-driven deckbuilder that offers a handful of options and upgrades to its system, and does not do a very good job of balancing them at all. The game features a number of bugs that will probably never fully be quashed and menu UX that's rather clunky, and the English translation is readable (an improvement over the previous game) but displayed incorrectly in numerous places. Players who are looking for an excellent deckbuilder experience would be well-served to look to Slay the Spire 2 instead (a release that is like if the devs of Cocaine figured out how to make Cocaine 2), although that is not the game I am reviewing right now. So it's a shame that the amateurish quality of the deckbuilder layer will, unfortunately, in the discourse of critical discussion, obscure the fact that it, like Flan's MS before it, is quite a good adventure game, both on the story and meta level. It is my belief that the worst thing a work of art can be is boring. This will vary with taste, but a so-called bad game can be a good experience in the same way that a so-called good game can be absolutely …8 found this helpful
Boring and generic with very little card variety. Also this isn't really a touhou game. Sure it has touhou characters, but the story is completely unrelated. (Maybe it becomes more touhou-related later on, but this game is a nothing burger that isn't worth playing.)4 found this helpful
A pretty good game. The game has two parts. The first part involves exploring and doing things in Scarlet's Mansion until you run out of time. After that, you're told a story which transitions the game into an RPG, where you need to explore, search for items, and fight enemies using deck-building mechanics, which is a lot of fun. There are different party members you can get, each with their own card themes, allowing you to create some pretty cool decks. The game's art and music are also quite good, and it even features some voice acting, which is pretty cool. The game is entirely different from the first game, Fran's MS, but I really like it, so I definitely give this game a thumbs up.1 found this helpful
