Black Jacket starts with a lot of promise but quickly falls apart. It blends elements of Balatro and Slay the Spire with a clever blackjack-style combat system where enemies actually communicate and try to reach 21 points alongside you. The concept is genuinely fun at first, and the card interactions feel fresh and engaging in the early runs. Unfortunately, the game becomes frustratingly unbalanced the deeper you go. Some cards are completely broken, especially one that many bosses use to consume other cards. Even when you manage to break or counter it, the effect often still triggers. This turns promising runs into unfair slogs where you feel like you’re fighting the game’s systems more than the enemies. After multiple runs, the imbalance kills any desire to keep playing. Instead of that “one more run” feeling you get from great roguelikes, I was left with a sense of wasted time. The potential is clearly there. The core idea is strong - but in its current state, Black Jacket just isn’t fun. I left feedback about the balance issues, but with no meaningful changes, I’ve given up and deleted the game. I can’t recommend it until the balancing is seriously addressed.1 found this helpful
It's pretty good
just great
Great game, really loved it. Love the narrative part and overall atmosphere. Lacks some depth in terms of mechanics, but a great introduction to card roguelikes with great atmosphere, phenomenal voice acting and interesting mechanics.
Fun & engaging game
After hours played, I can say that game is awesome. Best card game I ever played, each boss fight is part of story,
each one of them has something to say to Kris, he is not a good father and "son"
. Also decks, each one of the decks has a different play and cool combinations with other decks, there is a lot of content so far. FACE CARDS INTERACTIONS, they are cool side stories that are fun to watch. Game has cool mechanics like artifacts, burning or awakening cards. At the end you can play with only one ace and one card with 10 and get a blackjack every time ;). I got one because of Vice face cards. My count was 20 but it counted it as 21, and so on. When I got 22, it counted it as 21 nd Morgan always had a +1 on her, even without card activation. Update: Sorry, it seems it was effect of one of the artifacts, not bag. UPDATES: I defeated
REED
, it was epic, NOW I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME.
Hearts and Family Face cards are ultimate, I don't know how but I managed to fuse family cards and got an easy wining round, I did so well and made a good tactic with tumar and tooth cards, against Reed all of that payed well
.
