About FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR

✦ AI summary

FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR puts you behind the wheel of a destructive arcade racer where high-speed crashes and demolition derby chaos unfold from a brutal first-person perspective. Every reckless decision has immediate, visceral consequences as you trade paint with rivals, recover from spinouts, and watch the wreckage pile up around you across multiple modes from full-contact racing to stunt launches and arena demolition.

FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR is destructive arcade racing at windshield distance, combining high-speed racing, car crashes, and demolition derby chaos into an intense, first person VR driving experience. This is FlatOut directly from the driver’s seat, where every questionable decision has consequences. Trade paint through tight corners. Recover from spinouts before the pack swallows you. Barrel toward a ramp knowing the landing is definitely going to hurt. Hit too hard, turn too late, or miss the gap, and the gruesome result is no longer something you watch from a safe distance.

Inside the Wreckage

FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR brings the series’ crash-heavy arcade racing into VR with first-person play, 6DOF support, motion controller steering, wheel support, spatialized audio, and much more.
That matters because FlatOut suddenly gets very real when you are sitting behind the wheel.
Lean forward to look through a turn. Check your mirrors before a rival closes the gap. Glance down as the speedometer climbs. Hear the track open up around you, then hear another car come tearing into your space. When the impact hits, the car snaps sideways, rivals close in, and the wreckage keeps piling up around you.
Updated vehicle interiors, visible hands on the wheel, working mirrors, and a live speedometer keep you planted in the car when the race turns ugly. Check your six, watch the speed climb, brace for impact, and fight to stay in control as the smoke folds in around you.

Race, Wreck, Crash and Burn Across Multiple Modes

Pick your favorite way to ruin a perfectly good vehicle, from full-contact races and weaponized assaults to driver-launching stunts, demolition arenas, and online multiplayer.
RaceFull-contact arcade racing where speed only gets you so far. Push through crowded tracks, muscle past rivals, recover from hard hits, and try to reach the finish before the car gives up.
Time TrialNo weapons, no pack, no excuses. Push the car to its limit, cut every corner clean, and keep enough control to beat the clock before the track beats you.
AssaultThe race gets nastier when weapons hit the track. This is combat racing at its most brutal. Fire back, dodge incoming attacks, recover from the hits you couldn’t avoid, and use every dirty trick you can think of to stay in the fight.CarnageScore big by driving badly in all the right ways. Smash rivals, tear through trackside destruction, chain the chaos together, and keep the wreck moving long enough to make it count.Stunt ModeForget the finish line. Hit the ramp, launch the driver through the windshield, and chase distance, targets, timing, and regret across 12 ridiculous stunt events.
Arena ModeLeave the finish line behind and settle it in the arena. Smash through six demolition playgrounds across Death Match, Capture the Flag, and Survivor, where positioning only matters until somebody turns your car into scrap.Online MultiplayerGo online with up to 8 players and see what happens when real drivers bring real grudges to the track. Trade paint, force mistakes, lose friends, and try to cross the line before someone puts you into the wall and calls it strategy.

White-Knuckle Control in VR

FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR supports motion controller steering for players who want a direct VR driving feel, along with steering wheel, pedal, and manual shifter support for players who want to lock in with physical racing hardware.Whichever setup you choose, the goal is the same: keep control when everything around you is trying to take it away. Correct the slide. Recover from the hit. Muscle the car back onto the road. Survive the corner you entered too fast and the rival who went in with you.
DLSS support and CAS sharpening provide a smoother high-performance VR racing experience and improve in-headset clarity. This keeps the action sharp as the track and the traffic close in.

Drive hard, hit harder, and try to finish while the car is still moving.
FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR
After several attempts to get the game to run it just fails to. As a Quest 3 user I warn to potentially avoid this game as it's not working no matter what I have done. Updated Drivers both through Meta and my PC. The game will freeze upon the splash screen when I use a native link and it essentially bricks my headset until I have to replug the link back in, which is another problem on the Meta side as it fails to recognize my headset sometimes and I am not wasting my time with this. I can only get this game to run through Virtual Desktop and this leads to another problem. When I play the game it absolutely refuses to work with my G923 wheel and shifter setup. It will not allow me to change my inputs nor' will the game respond to those default inputs to my wheel, pedal and even shifter. I sincerely warn users to avoid this product as it's yet another VR port that's been handled poorly. A refund will be requested if I cannot get this resolved of one more effort or two of trouble-shooting. Wait on sale, $5 to $10, nothing more. Even if it works. This game was mid anyways on desktop and only gave it a chance again because of the VR port tthat I…

I havnt played that much yet but i love it so far! I never played flatout flatscreen so this is my first experience with the game and its tons of fun! Im playing with a Logitech G29 and it seems to work really well. I know wheel support is still in kind of an early access state if you will but i do have a couple of issues with it i would like to address. When binding buttons it becomes very confusing because it doesnt tell you the actual button (like X, square, circle, triangle) it gives you a number for them like button 1 through how ever many buttons there are so its kind of a guessing game The stiffness of the wheel gets over rid by the game and is kind of stiff. it really doesnt feel that bad but it would be nice to be able to adjust the stiffness of the wheel in settings. (i dont think theres a setting for it not that i can find anyways) In assault mode it looks like other players can throw weapons behind them like the ball and the bomb but this doesnt seem to be possible with a wheel. you would think you could just hold down on the D pad when throwing them but it doesnt work and theres no binding for it. so we really just need a "rear throw" binding would be nice…

I'm not usually into arcade racers, but FlatOut 4 VR is awesome, I'm loving it. The team did a great job. The visuals and audio/music kick butt. The game is raw and visceral. I find myself gritting my teeth I'm really physically getting into the game carving through corners and smashing through telephone poles. My t300rs Thrustmaster wheel and pedals work perfectly, I just sat in my Sim rig and it was playing within 30 seconds. Any VR gamer should pick this up, even more so if you have steering wheel and pedals.
