You're inside a simulation, of a simulation, inside a simulation, of a simulation inside The Matrix inside a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC within a mall that's inside your brain inside another giant simulation! What looks like your ordinary RPGMaker Horror story ends up being a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a game where you travel between (two) different layers to solve various puzzles. The game's main mechanic, which is the "R E T U R N" thing mentioned in the game's description, is implemented in an abundant and satisfying manner and the puzzles, while simple, end up being really fun because of this. Remember to screenshot anything you might need or pull up a notepad and write it down, and that the puzzles aren't that hard, you just need to think "outside the box". Also I'll fix Discount Joker's monitor someday. He deserves it, he's an amazing storyteller after all.2 found this helpful
Super cool! Puzzles and puzzles all around!1 found this helpful
Fremdganger is a short, but ambitious game, that peels away its layers away like an onion. Its structure reminded me of the movie "Everything, everywhere, all at once". As other reviewer have mentioned, it is best to go in this game blind, and discover it though play. But for sure, there is more than what meets the eye initially. Fremdganger experiments with many different genres. None of them are too in-depth, but they don't need to be. This game is more about the flow and unpredictability of what you might encounter next then the gameplay loop(s) themselves. The dev did a good job of figuring out the structure and navigation of the world, which keeps the experience engaging. Puzzles were simple and intuitive, at no point did I feel stuck.1 found this helpful
Had a fantastic time with it! Sticking with other reviews that urge to spoil not too much. Just buy it and let yourself be surprised.
Steam Deck
I played it on Steam Deck and was able to finish it without issue. I think it's ideally played on keyboard, because certain sections are a bit harder with Joystick instead of WASD. It definitely didn't stop me from finishing this gem.1 found this helpful
Wow, just wow. This game is pretty damn good for a meta game! I don't want to spoil anything but i really like the games concept and main antagonist, why do i like the main antagonist? You will never get me to tell. Play it yourself. It's pretty good (imo)1 found this helpful
