About Daemonologie

Daemonologie is a short folk horror story influenced by the Scottish witch trials of the late 1600s. From the developer of Symphony of Seven Souls.

You play the role of a witch finder who has been summoned to the small Scottish village to uproot the witch that resides there. You must speak to the locals and sort their truths from their lies. If they are not willing to communicate then you have permission to employ further methods of persuasion.

At the end of each day you will experience prophetic, stop-motion style nightmares. While cryptic, they may provide you with some hidden truths.

It is recommended to take notes as you go as the game will not hold your hand or lead you in your investigation. The choices you make will be all yours.

Features:

- Hand drawn pixel art.
- Original soundtrack.
- Short interwoven narratives designed for playing in a single sitting, multiple times to get the full picture.
- Nightmarish stop-motion style animations.
- Rebuilt from the ground up and expanded from the 2020 HPS1 Jam original.

Complete and utter waste of time. Beautiful visuals and cool artstyle, but the gameplay loop is repetitive and dull and the ending is unsatisfying. I couldn't care less if "that's the point", the ending sucks and gives me absolutely 0 desire to ever touch this game again (I played the game twice before coming to the this conclusion.

Worth playing for the stop motion alone, which is truly incredible

Very cool short experience.

Good atmosphere / themes / soundtrack Initially unsure on the ending, but the devs response here put things into perspective (spoilers): https://steamcommunity.com/app/3048140/discussions/0/4839771730899310250/

Even if it's very short, I won't refund because it's cheap and I want to reward the amount of work this game took, but I consider this to be a waste of time. The "ending" left me confused, so I've looked up a long answer from the dev explaining his artistic vision. Well, I get it, its coherent, but that doesn't make it good or interesting. Or at the very least, let's say it didn't change my opinion and I still disliked the game. The game is so short that it's impossible to say what you disliked without going in spoilers territory. So I'll just say that pretty much nothing clicked for me. Especially not the "gameplay"/game design part. The only positive thing I can say about this is the cutscene and the vibe are unsettling. That's pretty much it. If I were to discuss exactly why the game is disappointing (in a not spoiler free way), I saw a review that articulates perfectly what I think. I won't repeat the same, just go check prester's review : https://steamcommunity.com/id/prester/recommended/3048140

Maybe the real witch was the friends we tortured along the way
