DONT BUY THIS GAME!!! The game crashes for some people after ~1 minute of gameplay and the dev never fixed this crash! Turning off the internet to avoid the crash doesn't work for everyone. The game was released in 2017, we're in 2026, the dev will never fix this crash!3 found this helpful
Seeing this game I did unfortunately judge a book by it's cover, but after playing I was very pleasantly surprised. As a big fan of "The Thing" by John Carpenter I enjoyed the story and themes. Highly recommend it as a free game that is relatively quick. Even I, as a big idiot, finished it around only an hour.
nice entertainment for an hour or two. EDIT: I completed the game on Fedora 44 (Linux).
Frostbite: Deadly Climate has no business being this good for a free game. I went in expecting a small, forgettable indie horror project and ended up finding a genuinely enjoyable survival horror experience. The atmosphere is solid, the snowy setting works surprisingly well, and it does a lot more with its budget than some paid games manage. it is rough around the edges in places, but for something that costs absolutely nothing, it's hard to complain. One of those rare free games that actually feels worth your time. 8/10, proof that sometimes the best price tag is no price tag at all.
Game crashes in under a minute. Developer has abandoned the game and neglected those who want to play it. You would need to be using a computer that hasn't been updated for 10 years to run this.
I found out about this game from comment made by the dev himself back when I watched HarshlyCritical (later on John Wolfe), but it barely ran on my crappy laptop and I couldn't finish it. Now that I FINALLY finished, I got to say, it's both a cute and pretty well made love letter to The Thing (1982 remake) and Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason. It keeps you extremely on edge, and it sometimes feels like you'll die before your timer runs out. I'm glad it ended on an ambiguous but good note, even if the dev probably wished he could do something more with it.
