"頭痛" is a short asset-flip horror game that relies heavily on jumpscare moments, with mixed reception among players. Some appreciate the atmospheric horror elements and attention to detail in animations, while others find it derivative, boring, and poorly constructed despite its brief 60-minute runtime.
"頭痛" is an Unreal Engine asset flipped first person horror/jumpscare game like all the others, this one has two main differences. It's Japanese, not Russian, and they're not trying to scam people into paying money for it, where most Russian asset flips certainly have that underlying MO. So you run through a bunch of lazily assembled Unreal Marketplace assets and get jumpscared. At least it's only about 60 minutes long, and as we all know, less of a bad thing makes it slightly better. There's no English translation for the game, but that's okay. The language of bad games is universal. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. The game places players inside an abandoned museum while searching for a missing individual, but what initially appears to be a simple investigation gradually evolves into an unsettling journey filled with hidden secrets and disturbing discoveries. Its compact scope is balanced by an emphasis on storytelling and atmosphere, making it a worthwhile experience for players who enjoy psychological horror that encourages careful observation instead of relying solely on sudden scares. The museum itself is the centerpiece of the experience. Every exhibit hall, storage room, and dimly lit corridor contributes to a growing feeling of isolation, encouraging players to move cautiously while paying close attention to their surroundings. Environmental storytelling plays a major role, with subtle clues scattered throughout the building revealing fragments of its mysterious past. Instead of guiding players directly from one objective to the next, the game rewards curiosity by allowing explora…
As a fan of horror games, I really enjoyed playing this. The atmospheric horror was exactly my kind of experience. Even small details, like the door-opening animation, were clearly well thought out and added to the immersion.
