帝王拆迁办 (2025)

帝王拆迁办 is a really unusual little fan game, and I liked how quickly it separates itself from the usual historical fantasy RPG. It takes the world and characters inspired by 代号鸢 and moves the story into an afterlife setting, where I get to meet an old friend again under very different circumstances. The idea of leaving behind wars and political struggles for a strange journey through the underworld gives the game a fun mix of romance, mystery and comedy. The gameplay is mainly built around story exploration, dialogue and light puzzle solving. I enjoyed looking through the different scenes and working out what I should interact with next, because the game keeps the focus firmly on its characters rather than trying to fill the experience with complicated combat systems. Some of the little interactions are also genuinely funny, which helps balance the more emotional parts of the story. The relationship at the center of the game is easily my favorite part. There is a lot of focus on unfinished feelings, misunderstandings and memories from a shared past, and I liked watching those ideas develop through the conversations. While the idea of managing a demolition office in an imperial setting sounds fun, the gameplay quickly becomes repetitive and lacks real depth. Most tasks feel like the same thing over and over again, and the strategic elements don’t evolve much as you progress. The pacing is also a major issue, the story moves slowly, and dialogue sections can drag on without adding much to the experience. The humor sometimes misses the mark, and the characters feel flat, making it hard to stay invested.
