The Spiritless Shaman is an adventure, fantasy visual novel (with a bit of bishoujo romance) developed and published by TALESSHOP Co., Ltd. You take on the role of Sihoo, a young man struggling to get an office job. After being turned down during a job interview, Sihoo is walking in the park at night, holding a soda can and feeling frustrated over his lot in life. He throws the soda can, but as luck would have it, the can hits a young woman on her head, causing her to feel dizzy. Frantically, Sihoo hurries over to her, thinking that he might have seriously injured her, but thankfully, she's ok. While the two of them talk afterwards, Sihoo notices strange markings glowing on the woman's left arm. The woman, who later calls herself Ara (although her actual name is Aira), is ecstatic that he can see them, and she explains that she's been searching for someone who can see these markings. She claims to be a magic student from another world, preparing to become a shaman. However, after a mishap, Ara ended up in Sihoo's world, where there are no spirits to help power her magic. Since Sihoo can see her markings, this means that he can assist her in returning to her world. …10 found this helpful
Aww this game is so heartwarming and nice! Definitely a feel good visual novel and it just is so beautiful -/great music/writing/characterization/realistic love story and the VA's are amazing especially Aira. I feel for Sihoo and that one experience that shaped his life but his personality and attitude was great and Aira was good too both multidimensional and complex characters with the supernatural element and great VA's, music, and art - this game is a high quality feel-good masterpiece! This is like Key visual novels like Stella of the End, Kanon, Clannad, and etc.. The game called ATRI was the first game about a humanoid robot in the series I can't remember with Stella of the End being the second. Seriously if you like this game ATRI or Stella of the End is the way to go. Clannad is really a great story and I watched the anime because I was lazy but yeah Key visual novels like Loopers is another good one but less heartwarming. Definitely there are other good VN's like this but this one is just a magnificent masterpiece and it's not too long which is good because I want to play as many great games as possible in one lifetime. After 12 years of being a super VN fan, I can s…2 found this helpful
The Spiritless Shaman was a super sweet and wholesome novel that really made me feel like I was being called out as the lazy bum I am. The bright and vibrant art style with the calm yet happy soundtrack really set the scene for this wholesome short story. The female lead is adorable and I really enjoyed the whole plot. I am a little upset that it is such a short novel, but thats fine because it felt like more of my daily sugar injection. I hope that Taleshop gets more chances to make more sugary sweet novels like this, and hopefully much longer ones that are fully moege type novels.1 found this helpful
Sweet and wholesome. Loved every single second I spent on it <3
The Spiritless Shaman, developed by TALESSHOP Co., Ltd. and published in collaboration with Smilegate, is a short yet deeply introspective visual novel that explores the intersection between faith, isolation, and quiet human connection. Unlike grand or sprawling narratives that seek to dazzle with complexity, this work is deliberately compact, focusing its emotional energy on a single, ethereal idea: what happens when someone claims to be a shaman in a world where spirits no longer exist. It is a story that moves not through spectacle or conflict, but through atmosphere, voice, and introspection. Its calm pace and tender presentation allow the player to step into a world suspended between the seen and the unseen, where questions about belief and purpose ripple softly beneath the surface. At its core, The Spiritless Shaman is about empathy. You are drawn into the life of a girl who insists she can commune with spirits despite living in a world that has seemingly forgotten them. The story follows her quiet struggle to reconcile her identity with a society that sees her as an outlier or dreamer. The writing presents her not as a prophet or a fraud, but as a human being wrestling with…
