About Gems of Magic: Father's Day

Every time a cheerful father and son venture out together, they end up in problems. That doesn’t stop them to take a walk through the mountains! What can go wrong in a peaceful natural setting? Then father takes a tumble. Luckily, he’s fine but he ended up down the mountain while his son is still on top of the mountain!

Help this clumsy but caring dad to find his son as soon as possible. Work your way through numerous levels filled with coloured stones to climb up. Make as many combinations of three or more identical stones as possible to remove all obstacles on your path and conquer the mountain.

Can you meet all level goals and earn three stars in each level? Use various power-ups to complete levels with greater ease. Don’t keep the little boy waiting for too long because he’s pretty lonely on top of the mountain. Enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and reunite father and son as quickly as possible! "

gems of magic: father's day is the second game in the series, even though it's set in the real world and features a father-son duo, while the first one took place in a fantasy land inhabited by furballs. it was also among the worst match-3 titles I've played, which is true for graphium studio's other match-3 offerings as well, but ever the optimist, I decided to try this too. fourth time's the charm, right? not when the game doesn't even start properly, had to switch languages back and forth for the english text to appear. and while there are separate sliders for music and sound, clicking the credits or info button in the options sometimes resets volumes to maximum. besides various language there's a game cursor and that's it, no windowed mode, alt+enter only makes a full size non-resizable window, so it's useless. their second piratey match-3, which came out on the same day as this, was the first to finally introduce different game modes and do away …

Match 3 + unique mechanic - buggy UI = Casual wilderness theme with 100 levels. Gain coins from getting stars and use them to buy power ups. More modern graphics compared to other match 3s.
For other game reviews, please follow us at What The Game?
Match 3 is a very interesting genre of game because there are so many different ways they can be presented. At the very core of the games they all have a few values that hold true across the board of versions, but what sets the games apart is theme and puzzle design. In Gems of Magic Father’s Day, you will get a very light story that almost doesn’t even exist and is more so just an excuse to have the theme be what it is, which is fine. Puzzle design in this title is, however where my problem with the game lays. From just a few puzzles into the game, I found myself incredibly frustrated with how the difficulty of the game was designed. As far as difficulty goes, I am all game but only if the difficulty is overcome by wit and execution. This game’s hard parts are not overcome by wit or planning but just dumb luck. Often during my puzzles I found myself with only one move on the board and the game just kept forcing me to do meaningless moves over and over again. Of course to help somewhat remedy the getting stuck with no valuable moves, you do have t…

It's mostly a typical match 3, except: 1. On some levels there are squares of dirt, that you can not see behind, but nonetheless there are gems behind them. The only way to figure out what is behind each one, and if they will match with other gems is by systematically going through and swiping each obscured gem in each direction until you get a match. It's really clunky and annoying, and a BAD design choice. 2. Each mission requires you to move a tile from the bottom to the top, as well as get a particular score. This is quite difficult, and it's definitely one of the more difficult match 3's I've played. Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this game.
