Golden Tee Arcade Classics

Golden Tee Arcade Classics is MORE than just an arcade golf game folks, it is a piece of arcade history. What makes a good arcade golf game you might ask? well, simple! great graphics, a fantastic catchy soundtrack, controls that feel great in the hand regardless of input device, and a very diverse and challenging set of courses! Nowadays Golden Tee might look simple and basic compared to later releases such as Virtua Golf and Actua Golf, but Golden Tee was here first, and at the time it was the GOLDEN standard, pun intended! If you want a solid arcade golf game, look no further folks, however I do recommend this to enthusiasts of the retro genre, as opposed to players looking for their next PGA fix. a surprisingly really well made collection with basically every version of classic golden tee and two extra games (shuffleshot and world class bowling). they did a really good job of adapting the arcade cab's trackball control scheme to regular gamepads, it feels fairly natural, and there's lots of options to mess with. and if you're REALLY a purist, it supports actual trackballs too! they also added a tutorial, which helps a bit to explain the mechanics to newcomers. having said that, 40 bucks for what are basically 1:1 ports of arcade games (most of which are just updated versions of one game) is pretty steep, so I would get this on sale. also, it's a little strange that they opted to use the original version of world class bowling instead of wcb deluxe (which has an additional mode)

[h1]Great Steam Controller and Steam Deck game[/h1] Golden Tee hardly needs any introduction. If you were ever inside a bar, pool hall, or arcade in the late '90s through mid '00s, you saw some of these classic machines in action. Dedicated Golden Tee players will buy trackballs to play this game, but for everyone else, the touchpad on the Steam Controller and Steam Deck provide a great way to play the game with input more closely approximating the trackball experience than you'd get using a thumbstick or the virtual trackball. Be sure to set the input mode to Trackball in the settings.

An acquired taste.

The control port is completely nonsensical, frustrating, and just not fun. Bought this for some old school nostalgia and fun with my wife from our old bar battles. Refunded it quick when we realized its a lazy port with no thought into actual controls. Something so simple made so terrible.

Game runs and plays great with a trackball. I am using my X-Arcade, Arcade2TV-XR Tank Stick(what a mouthful right?) which interfaces well with Steam and Steam input and the Tank Sticks firmware does not interfere with Steam input. All the versions of Golden Tee play great and the included bowling game runs and plays great too. Yes, I waited for a sale, but I just got my tank stick up and running and it was worth the wait.
