Hard to Be a God is a deeply flawed but fascinating RPG with a memorable atmosphere and a world unlike most fantasy games. While its combat and technical aspects show their age and are rough-around-the-edges, if you enjoy old-school RPGs and immersive settings, you may find it a rewarding endeavor. Its unique story background deserves more attention, and it's an entertaining, niche, Euro-jank RPG experience through and through.3 found this helpful
**update3** im 35 years old now, and this is the best game i ever played in my life. It might be the ONLY good game ever made. And ive played them all. Check out my youtube of the same name if you dont believe me that ive played every 3d game ever made **update2** this is one of best games i ever found in 34yr of being alive! A grand adventure! The combat is awesome you can block with spacebar and rotate around with WASD while still blocking, blocking blocks 100% of damage, you can swap to different weapons and use their skills as well so you never have to wait for other skills cooldowns. definately Play on normal (difficulty = 1) in the ini file. Easy just changes the difficulty to 0.5 in the config file. And that makes the game too easy. Normal is sooo perfect. My only tip is to not spend too much time collecting gear in the first zone because you will lose it all. But then you can buy it all again when the real game starts + much much more **update** this game is spectacular, like really really good. We are talking more content than most bethesda titles and definately more content than the gothic series in this little gem. I suggest altering the camera so you can look forward.…3 found this helpful

10 years ago when i was around 13 years old. We got this games CD from collecting coupons from news. And this was my first ever rpg. Then i woulndt understand anything and id just play whatsoever and i had beautiful memories of it. Now i actually finished the game completely and im shocked. This game was so good all the plot twists and the general story is crazy good. The game is a little bit buggy yet it doesn't make you not be able to finish the game itself. Also if u are bugged u could try quicksaving and then loading that save again. Overall its a little bit long game but if u just enjoy the environment and the story going on and not mind it being a bit long then its a game for you. Well i have a lot of hours but it didnt took me that much to actually finish the whole thing.. if i could say id say it took me about 10-12 hours of gameplay time.. but i did sidequests aswell.. and messsed around.. And if i were to give tips in the game for being strong i would say max heavy swords and also max diplomacy skill first. also know that even tho weapon skills can be leveled to level 10 max.. there are some quests/sidequests that can still give points to your maxxed skills.. also there …
Super Fun If You Can Deal With Weird Old Games With Mediocre English Translations The game is quite old, so you have to be a little forgiving with the graphics and having to manually change the resolution every now and then. In terms of actual gameplay, I found it really fun! I like how the "disguises" work (even if the system is extremely simple), the story is interesting even if the translation is pretty bad in some aspects, and the world feels like something the devs had a lot of fun building. I don't find it frustrating to play other than minor technical issues. Fans of the novel should be aware that the story acts somewhat more like a sequel than a direct adaptation. You aren't required to have read the book though as many NPCs will go on huge diatribes explaining exactly what happened.
