About Hare Apparent

Hare Apparent is a dialogue-based roleplaying game in a high-stakes social elimination scenario. As one of five pretenders competing to rule the disparate kingdoms of Under-Sky, you’ll need all your social chops and strategic skills to be the last candidate standing and win the crown. During the day, talk with your fellow pretenders: build rapport, discuss issues, hatch plans and make false promises. Every night, votes are cast—and a pretender is eliminated. Last one standing wins the Ironwood Crown. Will it be you?

• Randomized dialogue and relationships—no two playthroughs are the same.
• 5 colorful and clever contenders to bond with or betray.
• 6+ endings based on your cunning and conduct in the crucible of the Conclave.
• Multiple difficulties to find that perfect balance between strategy and story.

Players are divided on this free political visual novel. Supporters praise its engaging gameplay loop of negotiating with rival candidates, well-written dialogue, strong character design, and high replayability through different outcomes and difficulty levels. It's a nice and short game, at the price of 0. Of course I recommend... I'd like to share that, initially I found the game easy. Won 2-1 at the final day, but the epilogue was unsatisfying. So, I played again, got to see some different dialogue and won uninamously! I then noticed there are difficulties, so I tried Doomed... I talked with everyone, told them what boosts their opinion, agreed to vote Adaro and then got voted out uninamously, reaching the epilogue... So, if I have a complaint, is that we don't get to vote ( & urge others towards) for the High King/Queen if we lose.

"Hare Apparent" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This is a furry fan-fiction written by a furry for other furries. Thankfully it doesn't seem to be about the authors imaginary furry girlfriend, instead it's an incredibly dry, bland political fan-fiction CYOA e-book. It reads like someone wrote down the sequence of events for a game of Town of Salem, but with furries. It's no surprise this was a complete flop on Steam Direct. This e-book isn't that linear and works more as a Choose Your Own Adventure, but the point still stands... nobody read a CYOA book and then said "Wow, what a great game I just played." Books aren't games. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best n…

A surprisingly high-quality free visual novel. At its core, it’s a political game of elimination, reminiscent of a papal election in a conclave. You have to interact with rival candidates, plot against them, and try to stay afloat. On the canonical difficulty, winning their approval is no easy task—they're conspiring behind your back just as much as you are against them. The game features well-crafted lore, natural and lively dialogue, and great character design. It truly deserves a big-budget remake. It’s almost a shame that hidden gems like this are given away for free.

Great game, there are so many options that leads to a lot of replayability. Short enough to play quickly, but engaging enough to keep you coming back. Will definitely play more games from this developer in the future!
