Haunting: The Rosefield Manor

what the heck did I just try to play? I can't tell if the game has really poor timing mechanics or the axe guy is supposed to kill you as soon as you enter the mansion gate. I literally had nowhere to run. The next chance I gave the game, I got into the mansion without the axe guy greeting me at all, but then this rando ghost greeted me as soon as I stepped in the door of the mansion. I was quick enough to back far away, but I still died? This game is either meant to frustrate or it's shoddy. I didn't want to frustrate myself with a third go. Asked for a refund.

Everything starts in the gloomy forest connected to the Rosefield Manor. From here, we make our way to the large mansion-type building with fences and gates all around it. Main part of the gameplay takes place inside it, where our goal will be to collect various hidden objects. We are equipped with a list of objects that we need to acquire. In almost similar fashion to a shopping list, we can track any of the remaining objects that we need to collect. While moving around the Manor and finding different objects, we will have to watch out for any of the AI roaming in- and outside the location. If we get directly caught by the AI, we fail the mission and start over from scratch. All of the rooms inside the Manor are dimly lit, and we have a flashlight that we can use to help us navigate and find the objects. The flashlight uses batteries, so it's crucial to manage its power by picking up batteries scattered throughout the building. Besides our source of light, there's an important mechanic relating to our [i]sanity[/i] that we also have to take care of. We have a sanity-meter that increases whenever we face paranormal activity. It's rare that I'm unable or unwilling to finish a game. While playing this game, I was definitely confused on what the objectives were and I stumbled around the mansion trying to figure out if I should use LMB on an item or E (strange system to interact with and collect items). I then learned we have an inventory system with an EMF device and that's when I told myself "now I can REALLY play the game" and I set off on a personal challenge to find all the items. After a couple restarts due to being caught by the nun, I continued, only to get stuck because my flashlight ran out of batteries and I couldn't possibly navigate the dark mansion to find more. I restarted the game and made another attempt while using my flashlight as little as possible and collecting as many batteries as possible. I found all the items, perfect. Now I had to find a garage, where is the garage?? I had found it by accident on a previous attempt but this time I had no idea where it was. I walked along the entire exterior of the forest and didn't find anything. My battery eventually ran out and there was no way I could continue my search. Absolute trash. Dated, poorly implemented mechanics. Not scary. Tedious as hell. Nothing to enjoy here: save your money. 2/10.

DO. NOT. BUY. This game is unplayable, lets start with the fact that when you check keybindings it doesn't tell you you can hold shift to sprint, I found that out by randomly pressing buttons while moving. None of the other keybinds work though, other than wsad for movement, and xy coordinates for mouse to move camera. The interact, turn light on/off, jump, and just about every other key does not work. The mansion has a random npc with an axe walking around but there is no gate to go through no door you can open. There seems to be a spot wiht the "entrance" signs you are supposed to be able to jump unto to enter, but like I said, the game is non-functional. 0/10 --this isn't even a game (did they list a pitch demo or some ♥♥♥♥ on steam? there is no gameplay here) Based on the other "reviews" this game has I'm going to go on a limb and say that the one guy who made this is posting positive reviews on alt accounts so that their game will stay positive* or mixed*. This ♥♥♥♥ has had maybe 5 players, me included.
