About Heavy Dreams
The year is 2060. You go into your attic, and you find an old laptop. Ancient stuff, maybe 2010s. Out of curiosity, you plug it in to see what happens, and to your shock, it works! You decide to explore. The further you go, the more you discover about Jay Zhang, the former owner of the laptop, his exploits, and his ultimate fate. Uncover the secrets of this boy, and find out what happened on that laptop almost 50 years ago.
FEATURES:
- Search through a boy’s computer, solve hidden puzzles, and discover what happened to cause the computer to end up where it did. Puzzles will take you through journal entries, mini games, and other apps on the computer.
- Navigate through files and comics that Jay wrote and retro video games that Jay played – in short, get acquainted with the person behind the screen.
- No app is without purpose - everything either asks a question or gives an answer.
- Laugh, cry, and roll your eyes at a child throughout his teenage years.

After getting through a large chunk of the game, I can recommend it on the story alone. While I had some trouble with the puzzles, I think that the story was a good enough payoff for getting through them all.17 found this helpful

Heavy Dreams is a 2D retro pixel desktop simulator puzzle game that's been slapped together with the godawful GameMaker Studio video game construction kit from Yoyogames. As a desktop simulator, you're tasked with clicking around on a virtual desktop of someone else's computer to work out the elements of whatever story the developer is trying to convey. It's slightly more amusing than watching paint dry, I guess. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. The interface is really badly done, and while the developer thought it might be clever to make people look for clues to solve puzzles by looking at the game screenshots, this is more annoying than fun, especially with a game presented so badly, thanks in part to GameMaker Studio. GameMaker Studio is a very poor quality game construction kit, and unsurprisingly results in products that have little to no value as games, especially when …1 found this helpful
Actually Good
This game kinda sucks. It's not a puzzle game; it's supposed to be some sort of forensic computer analysis sim... but it sucks at that, too. It also does some shady pc takeover ♥♥♥♥ when you type into the url bar, but it only enters your default browser and launches that page, because it doesn't have an actual browser in-game, like one would think.
