About Somnium

Carefully observe the abnormalities in the room.
If you do something that doesn't follow the correct steps,
you will be stuck in the loop of this dream forever.

This game will reflect the story of a salaried worker,
one who works hard, bears the burden of debt, and is constantly overwhelmed by stress,
leading to sleeping problems.

You will play as this salaried worker living in an apartment room.
When you wake up, you must determine whether your room is in its original state or not.
Pay close attention to the objects inside the room.
Otherwise, you will have to start all over again from the beginning.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Somnium is a FPS horror spot the difference game
with simple gameplay mechanics where you must memorize
what your "normal" room looks like
and observe whether anything has changed within the room.

The first time, you will wake up before midnight,
and you must remember the state of your room.

When you go to bed, you will wake up again in the middle of the night,
and you must notice if your room is still the same as before.

If it remains unchanged, you need to go to the toilet and then return to sleep.
Failing to follow this procedure will send you back to the beginning at midnight.

However, if something in your room has changed or disappeared,
you should go back to bed without visiting the toilet.

If you enter the toilet when your room is not in its normal state,
you will also be sent back to start over at midnight.

To break free from this looping event, you must be observant and follow the steps correctly to advance the time until dawn.

Oh, and also... if you wake up and find yourself not in your bed, you need to get back to your bed as soon as possible.

This game draws inspiration from the renowned puzzle game The Exit 8,
and has been lovingly crafted out of a profound passion for the puzzle genre.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate this anomaly-spotting game for its creepy atmosphere and solid performance, particularly on Steam Deck, though some find the apartment setting relatively plain and lacking visual distinctiveness. The core loop of spotting increasingly subtle differences—from obvious changes like an underwater apartment to barely noticeable object repositioning—provides engaging puzzle gameplay, but the repetitive single-room setting may feel limiting to some players over extended play sessions.

Scary anomaly game that takes place inside a single-room apartment. The location looks fine, and there are some details, but it lacks any distinguishing qualities. It's a simple room with a bed, kitchen, and dining table. The objective is to look around the apartment for differences or anomalies. If everything looks normal, you need to go to the toilet and back to sleep. However, if there’s something wrong, you need to go right back to sleep without visiting the toilet. As always with these games, the differences go from obvious to almost invisible. For instance, you might wake up in an apartment under water, or notice that a bottle has slightly changed position. If you make the right choice, the clock on your nightstand will move forward. But if you make a mistake, the clock will reset back to midnight. Compared to similar games that have only a few scary anomalies, this one manages to create an uneasy feeling. Because you're lying in bed, you can sometimes see things without getting up. One of these is a creature with glowing eyes in the closet. Some nightmares can kill you, such as the one in which you must find your bed inside a fog by following mannequins pointing in a sp…
