Hermea

Hermea is a slightly low poly 3D rendered third person action platformer. You have a couple of abilities to round out double jumping, sliding and doing everything you can to beat the clock. I guess first up the voice acting is, well, at best, really average. The character models look a little goofy. The game lacks a little polish around hit detection as you bump off walls in a not-so-great manner. But the game is smooth enough and well optimised. You also get customisable controls and graphics, so the basic requirements are met (unlike many thousands of for-profit mobile apps and console games on Steam that don't pay attention to the minimum standards for any PC game). While it's a little rough around some of the edges, I think this is on-par with for-profit speedrunners like SEUM: Speedrunners From Hell (if not perhaps a little better in some ways), but this is also completely free. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. Hermea takes a simple idea and builds an energetic precision platformer around it: delivering mail to the gods as quickly as possible. Rather than treating Greek mythology with the seriousness of an epic adventure, the game uses it as the foundation for a playful speedrunning challenge. You control Hermea, an intern working for Hermes' Delivery Service, whose assignments require navigating obstacle-filled courses and reaching divine recipients in the shortest possible time. Developed and published by Studio Impasse, it is a deliberately compact experience designed around movement mastery, experimentation, and repeated attempts. The basic objective is easy to understand, but achieving genuinely fast times requires considerably more effort. Each course encourages you to learn its layout, recognize efficient paths, improve difficult jumps, and gradually remove unnecessary movements from your run. Early attempts are likely to involve mistakes and experimentation, but familiarity transforms each stage into something closer to a carefully rehearsed performance. pretty cool to see what a team of approx 20 students from UCF can do: a cozy and funny speedrun game. Certainly give it a try!

Well damn, this game is impressive, aside from some obscene hitboxes on some crucial points due to the fact that is a bit of a conceptual game, it has an enormous potential. It really has the feeling similar to a modern Sonic game, and I liked the remix of the Spagonia Day Time theme for the first stages in a greek key, and about Sonic Unleashed, it felt like the stages where exactly in the middle between the tight day stages of the HD version and the broad day stages of the Ps2/Wii version, that sounds to me like the perfect feeling if a remake of that game would ever be made in the future. It would be even better if you developers were part of the project, but maybe it's just my fleeting hope to have one of my favourite games (the Ps2 version is my favourite personally) remade that it's talking. Anyway I hope to see more of your games in the future.

Got through it in an hour. Six achievements are unobtainable, they are the beat the levels without abilities. Has potential but it is terribly optimised and invisible walls are everywhere. The seizure achievement Party Hell can go to hell too. Can't recommend this to anyone with the state it is in and the obnoxious seizure achievement/curse.
