"Hold the door!" is an abandoned Early Access tech demo for a VR exclusive low poly arcade cover shooter (remember those? The game format that became obsolete back in the 1990s?). Gameplay consists of wearing a VR headset to see low poly graphics that would look bad in 2003 (several years after texture mapping was invented) and shooting a bow at blue blobs trying to get in your castle. If you can get the game to work properly. It was dumped on Steam and abandoned in an incomplete state a few months later, with no obvious plan for it ever to be completed. The low poly graphics are woeful, and don't even have textures. It's a buggy and mostly unplayable, with serious problems that will never be fixed. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game isn't great at all. Imagine a game so bad that it was made VR exclusive, in the hopes that would prevent people playing it and comparing it to professionally developed games. Но поверьте, здесь все не так просто. С каждым новым уровнем волна наступающих врагов становится все агрессивнее, а их количество растет в геометрической прогрессии. Визуальный стиль игры минималистичен, но при этом достаточно приятен глазу. Главное здесь – это геймплей. Он динамичный, напряжённый и затягивает с первых минут. Усиливают эффект простая, но запоминающаяся музыка и звуковые эффекты, которые отлично передают атмосферу осады. 'Hold the door!' – отличная игра для коротких сессий, когда нужно быстро развлечься и проверить свою реакцию. Она проста в освоении, но требует хорошей концентрации и стратегического мышления, чтобы продержаться достаточно долго. Рекомендую всем любителям аркадных игр и тем, кто ищет что-то простое, но захватывающее.

Why play this? There's countless VR archery games and this does nothing to impress. I understand it was made at essentially the genesis of steamvr, but The Lab also was, and it has an archery game just like this with better visuals. 2/10
