Hold Your Ground

"Hold Your Ground" is an abandoned Early Access tech demo for a VR exclusive low poly arcade cover shooter (remember those? The game format that became obsolete back in the 1990s?). Gameplay consists of wearing a VR headset to see low poly graphics supplemented by some Unreal Marketplace stock assets and shooting a bow at the Unreal assets trying to get in your castle. If you can get the game to work properly. It's been suggested that this is an "asset flip" or uses the same assets as another game (Hold the Door) that is thematically almost exactly the same, but I'm not completely sure about that. However, the similarities, right down to the title of the game, the concept (castle, attacking blobs, defending the drawbridge over the moat, VR exclusive, bow and arrow cover shooter) are amazing. It was dumped on Steam and abandoned in an incomplete state a few months later, with no obvious plan for it ever to be completed. It's a buggy and mostly unplayable, with serious problems that will never be fixed. Hold Your Ground is a free Early Access VR game that is an Archery Defense game. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Very Rough WIP project from a small dev team. CONS: - The bow model is Flexible, you can deform it, breaking immersion. - The movement mode might cause motion sickness. - The movement mode is very easy to move the wrong way or wrong time. - You have to hold your grip buttons in all the time to hold your bow. - Looks like an asset flip game. - No binding made for Index from devs. Try it and delete it, there are better games out there than this.

Игра 'Hold Your Ground' - это захватывающая смесь стратегии и динамичного экшена в сеттинге фэнтези. Мне особенно понравилась простая, но продуманная механика управления войсками. Легко освоить основы, но чтобы добиться успеха, нужно тщательно планировать расстановку юнитов и вовремя использовать их способности. Разнообразие врагов, каждый со своими уникальными сильными и слабыми сторонами, заставляет постоянно адаптироваться и искать новые тактические решения. Хоть графика и не поражает воображение, она вполне функциональна и не отвлекает от геймплея. Однако, хотелось бы больше контента. Кампания довольно короткая, и после её прохождения быстро пропадает мотивация играть дальше. Не помешали бы новые юниты, режимы игры или даже возможность сетевого режима для соревнований с другими игроками. В целом, 'Hold Your Ground' - это крепко сбитая и увлекательная игра, которая отлично подходит для коротких игровых сессий. Рекомендую попробовать всем любителям жанра tower defense и стратегий в реальном времени, но будьте готовы к тому, что игра закончится быстрее, чем хотелось бы.
