Huge Enemy - Worldbreakers

This game first had a price, now it is free. If you didn’t get how wrong things went for this to happen here is a full list. [list] [*] Performance. The game barely works: I had around 4-5 crashes PER HOUR on average. And no, those crashes are not predictable - they are completely random, on any level, at any point. Add to this long loading times and unskippable dialogues and the whole experience becomes extremely frustrating. There is also some weird stuff with resolution: no matter what I did I couldn’t force the game to use the whole monitor and the actual area of the game didn’t seem to change regardless of the option I picked. [*] Plot. There isn’t much of it but it is just bad: horribly written dialogues and unfunny puns voiced by text to speech engine make you wish you could skip that stuff entirely. [*] Weapons. I have seen 2 types of weapons in SMUPs: either you have a few guns that are used for different roles or you have a lot of guns with growing power levels. This game takes the worst from both systems: there are only a few guns that do different things but they have a clear power distinction so you are basically forced to use the last weapon you have unloc…

This is really a gem when you consider it's a free game, as it's a complete and fully playable flying shooter that consists of 12 stages and multiple bosses. Much of the game is super easy, even on hard. The boss fights in particular pose little challenge because your defensive weapons can make it so you are undefeatable. The music in this game is absolutely fantastic and the soundtrack is free as well. Some of the graphics are iffy, but the ship models look great. The major issue is that some of the ships in the foreground and background can still damage you for some reason. The actual game flow of flying, dodging, shooting, healing is really well done and the game as a whole is a ton of fun to play, if a tad too easy.

This game was amazing! Indeed there are a lot of fun boss battles and even the levels were kinda fun too (and that's coming from a person who usually likes boss battles more than anything in a game). Shooting hordes of enemies was quite satisfying, especially when I could just sit there with the autofire on and enemies just go away without any extra movement from my end, sometimes. Though there are some demerits I will have to point out about this game, but they're not as big as some of the reviewers here would make them. First off, the "RPG System" is kinda lacking in some places and wonky, but at least the upgrades actually DO make some weapons more powerful (I didn't think so at first because the "Fusion" weapon felt and looked the same to me after multiple upgrades.) Secondly, there's a load screen lasting roughly a little more than 2 minutes each time, which is a pain when I want to play the game multiple times over, BUT it only happens when you click on a level and go into it or when you replay the level right after a game over. Геймплей, в основе своей, представляет собой довольно стандартный слэшер с элементами RPG: прокачка персонажа, сбор ресурсов, крафт снаряжения. Однако, реализация оставляет желать лучшего. Боевая система кажется немного деревянной и однообразной, а сражения с огромными врагами, вопреки ожиданиям, часто сводятся к повторению одних и тех же шаблонных действий. Сюжет прост и предсказуем, а персонажи не вызывают особой эмпатии. Игра страдает от недостатка контента: локаций немного, типов врагов тоже не слишком много, а после нескольких часов геймплея начинает ощущаться монотонность. Потенциал у игры определенно есть, но ей явно не хватает полировки и более глубокой проработки геймплейных механик. В целом, 'Huge Enemy - Worldbreakers' может развлечь на несколько вечеров, но вряд ли оставит после себя долгое и яркое впечатление.
