Started for bunny, ended with blade. Cat teaches parkour, I major in faceplant. Loot cheese from dragon, grill on own tail. Boss dropped hat, I dropped jaw. Beat it overnight, real cat now grades my jumps.2 found this helpful
Hunter’s Legacy, developed and published by Lienzo, is a 2D action-platformer that channels the spirit of classic Metroidvania titles, presenting a colorful world filled with exploration, combat, and a modest narrative. The game puts you in the role of Ikki, a feline warrior on a quest to reclaim the Fang of Alliance and thwart the plans of the villainous Morodir. While the premise offers a promising foundation for a thrilling adventure, the execution reveals a mixture of strengths and weaknesses that shape the overall experience. At its core, Hunter’s Legacy embraces the exploration-heavy structure typical of Metroidvanias, encouraging players to navigate interconnected environments that unlock progressively as new abilities and upgrades are acquired. The game’s level design offers a variety of locales, ranging from vibrant forests and bustling towns to shadowy caves and ancient ruins. These environments are visually distinct and often evoke a nostalgic charm through their pixel art style. However, while the world-building shows creativity, the pacing and flow of exploration can feel uneven at times. Without a clear minimap or robust guidance system, players may find themselves w…1 found this helpful
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…1 found this helpful
Honestly, I found it nearly unplayable from the outset due to the camera movement. Moving horizontally is fine, but any vertical movement causes the view to bounce up and down and frankly made me feel motion sick.
Hunter's Legacy is a technically good game which comes with original graphics of medium detail, minimal story and a good, sometimes interesting variety of level mechanics making up a basic metroidvania. Unfortunately and despite loot drops and some rare items (not quite collectibles), this game does not manage to get me to enjoy it. I can appreciate the four-direction melee attacks, freely aimable bow and almost always agreeable controls but, for me, all the good things never combined to actual fun. Additionally, the bosses tend to be annoying which eventually makes me quit the game for a while until I regenerate enough tolerance to return. I think the main problem with bosses is that while levels help you maximise proficiency with your set of movements the bosses reduce player agency. Bosses sort of get in your way. At times that means you are simply prevented from approaching the boss vulnerability this cycle, at others you are bounced off the level. While falling off only counts as a simple hit it also leaves the player just watching. I guess in an academic context I would award Hunter's Legacy full points. A lot of good things have been put together well. As a consumer I do n…
