About In His Time

For those of you who are unable to see their loved ones ever again.

I can't see them anymore. But I really wish that I could see and hold them again. Where is my special person? I wonder if I will ever meet them again. "In His Time" is a 2D mystery-solving adventure game that faces these feelings.
The main character Olly, a young boy who lost his father early, lives with his mother Lyla. His mother has recently become ill, so he is left to attend school and take care of the housework.
Even at school, Olly is bullied by Bobby the big kid, and his cronies Mila and Hugo. He is also scolded by his teachers every day....... It was as if the world was pushing Ollie into a corner.
One day Olly is threatened by Bobby and his friends and together they sneak into a spooky mansion. They steal "parts" of a certain work and escape, only to be caught by the owner of the house - an old man named Joseph. Joseph, who claims to be a watchmaker, asks Olly what happened to him and says he won't do anything bad to Olly if he gets the "parts" back from Bobby and his friends.
Will Olly be able to reconcile with Bobby and the others? What will happen to his mother? And who is Joseph? Olly's adventure begins. We hope you will join us to see how it ends and how he develops!

I have a lot of thoughts about this game. If you only look at the puzzles and gameplay, it's a really good game. Puzzles are easy, but pretty enjoyable throughout. I was never stuck, and things were clear and well designed. But I take a lot of issue with a game that is going to jam in a religious-based narrative without giving any sort of mention to it on the store page / description / trailer. If you want to tell a story of faith... sure, whatever, you do your thing. But be open about it and tell people that's what they're going to get. I'd just avoid it, because I do not like religions and what is done in their name. Especially Christianity. Also, it's pretty hilarious that the incurable illness is called Karenia. The disease of Karens. Since there is a lot of overlap in the Venn diagram of Christians and Karens. Either a big self-own, or an amazing person on the localization team.

Do the monotonous daily tasks of a boy named Olly. I leave a thumbs up only because it plays well.

A game made with heart and soul. Very intriguing and fun. Very good story that doesn't interfere with gameplay. Actually they fond together perfectly. Maybe a bit slow at the beginning but after that it flies away. P.S.: I am very surprised that people complain about the developer failing to disclose the inclusion of religious themes in the narrative. I do not understand why such demands are not made regarding the many games heavily influenced by political and philosophical ideologies. In fact, I would say the entire gaming world is influenced by them.

A bunch of religious propaganda and no mention of it in the description of the game

Great redemptive and touching story. Also fun puzzles and eye candy along the way.

In His Time, developed by TearyHand Studio and published by Kodansha, is a quiet, emotionally driven puzzle adventure that prioritizes reflection and empathy over challenge or spectacle. From the outset, the game signals that it is less concerned with testing player skill and more interested in guiding the player through a carefully constructed emotional journey. It tells its story through small moments, symbolic interactions, and understated puzzles, creating an experience that feels closer to an interactive storybook than a traditional video game. The narrative centers on Olly, a young boy navigating everyday life while grappling with grief, loneliness, and the search for meaning. Rather than presenting a single dramatic event, the game unfolds through a series of vignettes that explore relationships with family, neighbors, and the wider community. Much of the storytelling is indirect, relying on implication and metaphor rather than explicit exposition. Ordinary tasks such as helping others, fixing objects, or completing errands are imbued with emotional significance, reinforcing the idea that healing and growth occur through small, consistent acts rather than grand gestures.
