Game is open source - has been since 2020. There was a recent update on Github (June). Might not be as dead and abandonware as appears based on Steam version alone.1 found this helpful
There is no in-game tutorial, so good luck. The game itself is fun, but confusing, and the main reason I am saying that I recommend it is because it does not need much storage, and it is free. ;D1 found this helpful

Sadly, not really playable. That is, you can make it work, but it is a waste of time. Gnomoria is more playable. Still, it is free, so why not give it a try.
