This might be Sokpop's best RTS game. I wish that they'll consider a "deluxe" version or a sequel with more features.2 found this helpful
King Pins, developed and published by Sokpop Collective, is a compact real-time strategy game that distills the core pillars of the RTS genre into a streamlined, approachable format. True to Sokpop’s design philosophy, the game embraces minimalism in scope while retaining enough tactical depth to feel engaging rather than shallow. Instead of sprawling tech trees, massive armies, and hour-long campaigns, King Pins focuses on quick, self-contained matches built around territory control, resource gathering, and strategic positioning. The result is a fast-paced strategy experience that captures the spirit of classic RTS design without overwhelming players with complexity. At the center of each match is the king unit, a crucial figure whose survival determines victory or defeat. This mechanic immediately adds tension to every decision. While expanding territory and producing units are essential for building strength, the king must always be protected. Overextending too aggressively or leaving defensive lines exposed can result in a swift and decisive loss. This singular vulnerability creates a satisfying balance between offense and defense, forcing players to think carefully about posi…
Small and really fun RTS game
It is a bite-size RTS, good for its price point. Pros + Four factions to choose from; each with different special structures and units. + No fog of war, you can easily see what you opponent is up to and you can setup an attack. + You can also see your opponent’s current resources. + No scrolling map, you can see the whole map in the whole screen. + There’s a bit of story and missions with different objectives. Cons - Mission condition 2-2: You need to have 15 resources of each type. However, when you reached the objective, the game kinda makes you wait for more than 30 seconds for the final wave of enemies. Then after you defeated all enemies, it takes another 30 seconds to say that you’ve completed the mission. Thirty seconds may not be long but it kinda unusual that it makes you wait and wonder what to do. - Sometimes, a ranged unit like catapult or archer will go next to the targeted enemy unit or structure even though when you attack the enemy, it is within the range. It defeats the purpose that you’ve selected a ranged unit but it goes next to the enemy like its a melee unit. - Enemy units sometimes does not react when you attack. - Action cancellation is really delay for an…
awesome game
A cute little real time strategy game for the price. There's a few small annoyances like not being able to select a tower if a unit is standing over it, and the campaign doesn't explain all of its towers or mechanics... oh also even on 2x speed things seem incredibly slow; But the core gameplay is still addictive, and the graphics are simple n' charming. The campaign can be completed in under 2 hours and from there it only takes a couple more to get every achievement. So it's pretty light on content but for the price it's sort of expected. I've come back to play 4-player matches against AI, but it isn't a huge hook since even at the hardest difficulty, they don't put up much of a fight. Local multiplayer seems like it would be the big appeal here; For that reason alone I think this game would be better suited to something like the Switch; But if you commonly play local multiplayer games from your PC, this is a solid buy.
