A decent Resident Evil game but far from my favorite. While Resident Evil can be a drag at times, the first 6 hours or so, especially Grace's segments broken up by Leon's action, are genuinely amazing. It's some of the best graphics mixed with optimizations I've seen, fun mechanics and good horror. However Leon's city segment is so boring and ugly and hard to get through. It feels like the entire game forgot what it was about. Like it was tacked on just to pad out the run time. Even then, this is a game charging a $70 premium. 10-15 hours of content does NOT cut it for a linear story experience. If it was something massively expansive like other AAA I could bare it a bit more. But it isn't. And I have a hard time justifying a $70 price tag. So I wouldn't recommend this game for anyone looking to get into Resident Evil. I would wait for a sale of 40% or more or get RE7, RE2, and/or RE4 instead.
It's pretty good, but probably one of the weaker modern RE entries. Like maybe a third of the game is actually survival horror, the rest is essentially an action game. Grace could just barely be called a main character, considering how much of the game she's sidelined for Leon. The story is nonsense at times, changes a lot of the series lore, and has heavy fanservice throughout. If you really like Leon and wanna see him do sick flips, hate the inventory management of past RE's, and just want to shoot zombies instead of worrying if you'll have enough bullets to deal with them, you'll probably really like this game. If you want something closer in style to the traditional survival horror RE experience, you might be a bit disappointed. Grace's sections are really good, just unfortunately way too short.
Amazing game...if you're a long time fan quite a bit of fan service here to enjoy
