highly recommend if you like early megaten games :) one part dungeon crawler, one part fps, one part viual novel, one part nightmare.1 found this helpful
About 50% of the game is dedicated to dungeon crawling, the other half are the visual novel parts of the game. The dungeon crawling and combat are both very fun, though they do start getting repetitive near the end of the game. There are some puzzles, but they are all way too easy in my opinion. The story is mostly episodic, most chapters focus on a single new character and their problems. I like most of the characters, they have a lot of charm to them and are fun to be around. I think it's one of those games that need to be played with a guide though, it's very easy to miss out on a lot of content of the game by picking wrong choices or not getting specific items before certain points. The subpar translation doesn't help that either.1 found this helpful
An extremely, extremely weird game. If you can get past a lot of the jank - the obnoxious puzzles forcing you to backtrack for some obscure random ass item, most of the followers being totally missable, most of the stats being useless, absurd difficulty spikes and troughs, there's something supremely cool here. I can say with confidence that I have never played anything even remotely similar to this freakshow of a game. I would be all over a sequel. Definitely not a game you recommend to someone new to esoteric Japanese visual novel-esque RPGs, and definitely something you only recommend to ball knowers. I think the Steam screenshots do a great job of indicating the vibes of this one. You'll know pretty immediately if it's for you or not. It was absolutely for me.
ever so often for no reason the game sets its audio back to 100% and i go deaf for a good second when i press A to begin
★★★★★ Truly buried treasure. I bought this thinking it was Undernauts: Labyrinth of Yomi (which I still haven't played), and it was one of the best mistakes I've ever made. A deeply flawed game in a hundred different ways that nevertheless make it relentlessly charming to me. Some of its running gags have permanently entered my vernacular.
