About Kozomo: The Smoldering Ember

Accompany Kozomo in this pointless life

Kozomo is a young man in his late teens, who has spent most of his youth either asleep or escaping to the woods. Despite his and his family’s wealth and reputation, Kozomo finds no joy in life, often neglecting even the simplest of duties like eating. To those around him, his behavior is not just baffling but unsettling. Some people see his detachment as a sign of madness or moral weakness. And some believe that there is a smoldering ember inside him, one day that will raise him up again.

Solve a variety of puzzles

Kozomo: The Smoldering Ember is a platformer game where you'll have to think so often to solve the puzzles blocking your way. The game usually introduces new elements or expects from you to discover new interactions between already introduced elements in some clever ways. This game is not a hardcore puzzle experience, but it also will not be a piece of cake.

Explore your firepowers

Witness Kozomo's discovery of his sorcery powers. Will this powers be able to grant him the life purpose he's lacking? Will he use those for the good, or will the power poison him? Make use of Kozomo's new firepowers to solve puzzles in different ways and find out the uncertain fate of Kozomo.

What to expect?

KOZOMO: The Smoldering Ember is a 5-hour journey that blends platforming and puzzle-solving in equal measure, with over 750 lines of dialogue that shape its world. You'll spend about 10% of your time experiencing the story through dialogue, 40% navigating precise platforming challenges, and the remaining 40% unraveling intricate puzzles. While the game includes attacks and even a final boss encounter, it isn't an action-focused experience. The opening hour is puzzle-free, giving you space to learn the controls and mechanics before the deeper challenges begin.

Kozomo: The Smoldering Ember is a deeply atmospheric indie puzzle-platformer that combines emotional storytelling with exploration and environmental puzzle-solving in a surprisingly thoughtful way. Developed by Kursat Kuyumcu, the game follows the journey of a young man named Kozomo who struggles with emotional emptiness despite living a seemingly comfortable life. Rather than focusing on action-heavy gameplay or fast-paced platforming, the experience centers around introspection, loneliness, and personal healing. The result is a smaller but emotionally sincere adventure that uses its mechanics and atmosphere to reflect the inner struggles of its protagonist. The emotional tone of the game is established almost immediately. Kozomo’s world feels colorful on the surface, yet strangely hollow beneath its bright environments and fantasy-inspired visuals. The game constantly creates a feeling of emotional isolation through quiet exploration, subdued music, and reflective dialogue. Instead of relying heavily on exposition or dramatic cutscenes, much of the storytelling is delivered through environmental design and the gradual progression of Kozomo’s journey. This restrained narrative st…

Kozomo is a well designed puzzle-platform game. All the levels are so cleverly desgined that challenges kept me going for too long. Story flows like a river on the background, you can follow it or not. With cute graphics and emotinal melodies, kozomo offers an enjoyable few hours to players and it is quite cheap for this prize. Definitely worth checking out
