Based on short film made and directed by Chris Marker. Even though it may not be that well known, as an old 1962 Sci-Fi French film, but some people will definitely know it for inspiring Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys.
"A memory has haunted the hero of the tale since his childhood — the image of a woman and that of the killing of a man, at the jetty of the airport Orly in Paris. There is the timeless theme of star-crossed lovers, against the backdrop of an underground camp in a world completely devastated by a nuclear war. There are the rulers of the camps, who ruthlessly apply their scientific methods, supposedly to perpetuate life on the planet, while forcing humankind to give up on all that is beautiful. They use the memory of the hero of the story to catapult him back and forth in time, to find a source of energy, to save the human species. In his journey into the past, he meets a woman and a tragic love grows between them. After a series of events, the man eventually finds himself in the time and the place of the image that has always haunted him; he sees the face of a woman that represents to him love and life in a world without wars. Before meeting with her, he is killed by a camp guard who has followed him from the underground camp, from which he escaped."

La Jetée IS NOT A GAME NOR A VISUAL NOVEL. It is a short film made and directed by Chris Marker. The full film has been uploaded on many youtube accounts and vimeo pages. This "game" has straight up ripped the entire movie and is trying to pass it off as a "game". Nowhere in the description is it stated that this is an actual movie. I thought that it might have been associated to the actual movie but nop. It seems that they screenshotted the original movie but a low res version of it as many of the pictures are horribly compressed. Many of the images also have french subtitles embedded into them. Very lazy. An insult to the original work, which is actually a beautiful piece of art and has inspired the movie and tv series 12 Monkeys. For shame Arthouse indie Games.35 found this helpful
This is not a game, or visual novel - it's a classic film by Chris Marker that has been butchered to autoplay in Unity. I thought this would be some kind of interesting and original take on the theme of the film (a missed opportunity) but it's just a worse version of the film. It's one thing to do an homage, but this is just trash. The devs should change their name to Led Zeppelin for being such a cultural thief. I don't know how this got past Steam Review.8 found this helpful

A (once) free adaptation of the seminal Chris Marker film: nearly all of the short consists of still images only, so it translates really well into the format of a kinetic visual novel (one wihtout any choices). It's a rather expressionistic and melodramatic tale about a man witnessing his own death as a child while living towards the (lost) love of a woman (Ligia Branice, "Blanche"). All framed within the compounds of futuristic dystopian images and the modernity of a contemporary airport where the destiny of the man unfolds (in black and white of course). The game uses a distortion filter which is quite effective, the same goes for the musical background - mostly. The writing of the visual novel being nothing special at all, but not embarassing either. Like the movie it lasts for about half an hour when reading fast without skipping the majority of the text.4 found this helpful
