Laira Cut Me Open
Rating: 7/10 – Good Laira Cut Me Open is a short visual novel of sorts with some very simple puzzles. Gameplay itself, while limited works well to serve the real meat of the game: it’s story. And the story is pretty Good, having me hooked from beginning to end, making me constantly guess what was going on or what would happen next the whole way through. I quite enjoyed its twists and unexpected turns. On top of that is a very charming art style that, in its simplicity, does to an extend serve the story quite well. And while some animations did look a little off at times Laira Cut Me Open is very nice to look at. What does hold it back a little is the sound design which, in my opinion, is a little too minimalistic and a bit more could have probably enhanced the game quite a bit. Not to say that it ruins the game, overall the sound design is Fine. In regard to the gameplay, as mentioned, it is short and sweet with somewhat minimalistic gameplay and relatively easy puzzles. But there is one issue and that is that, at times, it can be a bit difficult to tell where exactly to press, or where exactly to go to contin…

This is a very cool game! It's not really my type of game as I can often have a hard time paying attention to and understanding stories in games, but I enjoyed the story nonetheless and how it took advantage of the medium. The visuals and soundtrack were pretty nice, and while the gameplay wasn't anything spectacular it doesn't really matter as it clearly isn't the focus and it gets the job done. There were some issues with clicking on things not working as I think it should, both with dialogue and interactables, and while the chapter selection is nice there is no real indication in-game what chapter you are currently on. Overall, recommended!

2D games, can be equally entertaining, as 3D triple A. Great job, Devs. Gave me AnotherWorld, and OldBoy vibes.
