About Last Stitch Goodnight

Last Stitch Goodnight is a side scrolling action adventure that violently embraces a new mythology. After you survive a near-death experience, you are kidnapped by a doctor who is experimenting on people who satisfy certain… criteria. Escaping the doctor’s death trap of a mansion will require new weapons, new powers, and a strong stomach for facing science gone bad.

Features
 • A giant mansion to explore, full of hidden secrets and unique locations such as kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, labs, furnaces, and a movie theater
 • Scores of cranky, cranky enemies ranging from irate office workers to malcontent robots
 • Multipurpose tools used to interact with the world or bludgeon enemies, depending on your whims. Sometimes a screwdriver dismantles a bed, and sometimes it shivs a punk
 • A suite of upgradable powers that allow the player to fully explore every shadowy corner, even the ones with spiders
 • Towering bosses that will push your skill and creativity, forcing you to use every trick you have learned
 • A spanning story that breaks down 4 individuals in ways that can’t be fixed with bandages

Went in pretty blind on this one, but I ended up being really surprised by it. Pro: *Really enjoyed the story and exploring the world *Decent enemy diversity and boss battles *Looks like it has plenty of side missions to keep coming back to *Dev is really involved in supporting the game. Saw a bug reported and fixed in a few hours. Con: *The animations could have a bit more life *Dev doesn't do a good enough job of communicating that the weapons have a "super attack", like the lead pipe does more damage when you attack while jumping. Learning that helped the combat from getting stale. Warnings: *It is dark AND has sarcasm. If you want just one and not the other, look elsewhere *Playing it on Medium felt a bit Dark Souls-esque (had to learn animation patterns to know when to hit), and playing it on Easy made it feel a bit more like a brawler (I could just run in and start attacking).

I received this game free for review Reading can be lame, so check out my video review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QlcDfVATKo "At its heart, Last Stitch Goodnight from Well bred Rhino is a Metroidvania-type of game that sets out to deliver a 2D map on a grand scale with plenty of opportunities for the player to return to familiar areas after learning new skills to find hidden secrets, while also delivering a comedic experience. However, Last Stitch Goodnight’s attempt to follow the tried and true Metroidvania formula is often beset by a litany of issues that hamstring the game into a boring and often frustrating trek through a generic mansion."

This game is 70% story, 40% movement, 20% sass, and 90% scientific fact. Do not question. You're going to explore a mansion, use tools, smash nerds, and acquire items. Use KBM or a controller. I feel most comfortable using my original xbox controller.

Very fun game so far. The characters are entertaining, the gameplay is fun, the music is great, and the story is interesting.

Has a pseudo Adventure Game focus. Want to hear a different opinion, or want to share your own review? Check out our Forum here.
Full Review
(The review code for this game was receieved through Curator Connect.) My feelings about this game were a bit of a roller coaster. I was intrigued by the idea of a "Horror Metroidvania", so I loaded this up for the first time and looked at title screen with its striking red and black aesthetic with high hopes. Then I started the game, and characters started talking. All hope of "horror" flew out the window with a hilarious "blurbibiblur". I started imagining the great horror games like Silent Hill with all characters using the same Animal Crossing style of "Bebebese…

Just to make sure there's no confusion, this is a review, and it is for the game Last Stitch Goodnight. It takes the form of a 2.5D side-scrolling Metroidvania with a greater focus on the Metroid part (more on the exploration, less about the numerical upgrades). There's combat and puzzles and talking, oh my! Straight up, I enjoyed the game and I think it's worth the purchase. There's not a lot else to say without going into the pros and cons of it. Pros: - The writing is quite humorous. The sassy main character is particularly fun to see their reactions. I especially liked trying each weapon that I knew wouldn't work on the interact points just to see all the different things my character would say about it. That cleaver truly has a fantastic blade, and I too would hate to see it dulled if I tried to use it to build my very own robot frenemy! Aside from the generic comments, you also get clues to what tool you actually do need for the job (sometimes it's not a tool at all). - You can't just beat down any bosses. You have to figure out how to weaken them before you can hurt them. - Weapons get upgraded through quests to make them more powerful later in the game. However, it's almo…
