Layer Hunt is a 2D survival sandbox adventure that brings together exploration, resource collection, crafting, building, farming, combat, and RPG-style progression inside a procedurally generated world. Developed and published by Edvin Andersson and Anton Andersson, it revolves around a clear long-term objective: explore the world, become powerful enough to survive its dangers, descend through progressively tougher layers, and defeat the boss guarding each stage. This structure gives the game more direction than a completely open-ended survival sandbox while still leaving players free to determine how they prepare for each challenge. The most distinctive element is its layered progression. Players begin by establishing themselves in the environment, gathering basic materials and learning how the different systems work together. Eventually, exploration extends underground, where valuable ores, hostile creatures, dungeons, enemy camps, and increasingly dangerous encounters await. Defeating the boss associated with a layer allows progression toward the next major challenge. There's potential for this game however there are some elements such as the enemies somehow being able to hit through walls (even in caves), item deterioration, and character stats that need to be adjusted. Needs more time in the oven.

This game wasn't very fun. I walked around and collected stuff. Then I tried to craft stuff, but the crafting menu was difficult to navigate. Then I wondered what I was even doing in this world playing in this game? It takes ideas of minecraft and 2d procedurally generated games, and leaves you with nothing to do. Didn't have fun, all I did was run away from people who wanted to kill me. 0/10

the game has some annoying bugs and the combat needs some improvement. the balance is a little rough with very limited resources in mines and with respawning enemies each night it makes you run out of good weapons quickly. when you save the game there's no visual confirmation, something that makes me wonder if it's even saving. the controls menu doesn't show up for me, i have no way of changing buttons. since the game is free i'd say if you like this type of game, give it a try, but it's a punishing experience and not that enjoyable. the grind isn't too bad, but it's not all that fun to play, theres very limited crafting, something that makes the game feel a bit pointless. certain areas say that they are for level 2 or 3, but i can't find any way to see my own level, so i'm guessing it's based on equipment, however i did notice i got new abilities every now and then, so maybe i'm just not finding it. there is also no map in the underground areas, so you've got to pay attention to where it teleports you when you enter to find your way back, the compass seems kind of useless sometimes. a drawn map or something would be a much better feature. haven't gotten into trying the farming…
