Depending on the cards you select, Lazriel will evolve into either an angel or fall victim to the influence of demons.

STORY
Lazriel is a star pupil at the school in the sky, in the heavenly world ruled by goddess Emelia.
One fateful day, however, on her way back from a school ceremony, Lazriel is thrown down into the demon world.
There is only one way to return: by climbing the demon-infested tower.
Can Lazriel successfully climb the tower and return safely to the heavenly world?
HOW TO PLAY
This game uses a turn-based system in which you and your enemy take turns.
Lazriel can use two types of cards to inflict damage on enemies: Angel Cards and Demon Cards.
However, overusing the Demon Cards' evil powers may lead to Lazriel's physical and mental decline.

Bought this game because it appeared in my interactive recommender. Actually a decent rougelike. I like the tension between using purity card and demon cards. Use too many demon cards, and you miss out on all the useful stat bonuses that comes from being pure. Use too little demon cards, and you'll probably die to one of the game's many brutal encounters. It's tough to maintain a pure build, especially since hp items increase your demonic gauge too. I think some cards could stand to be a tad more powerful, but if you're looking for a fun rougelike srpg, this game is for you. Not too sure about long replayability, since the card pool is a bit limited. Definitely a game that could have benefited from a wider card variety for different builds.3 found this helpful

Good game. The plague mutation seems like a guaranteed loss since the status is not removed after discard or use. I gave up on getting ending B after a couple plague runs, but might come back to it later. On the pure route, some of the hard mode starting mutations are actually beneficial (i.e. sloth constantly healing for 5). After maxing trucy and clearing ending A, it does not feel worth grinding for completionism. 12 hours well spent.1 found this helpful
The angel Lazriel finds herself at the gates of a great and terrible tower in the deepest depths of Hell. It is only by scaling this tower once used to siege the very gates of Heaven itself may she return home, but the journey is fraught with peril, as the tower is home to countless demons awaiting the next War in Heaven. However, demonic whispers and the seducing power of demons tempts her at every turn. Can this beloved angel return to Heaven in one piece or will she return at the pearly gates something beyond a shadow of her former self? Lazriel: The Demon's Fall is very interesting, especially when it comes to presenting the idea of temptation. You notice almost immediately the disparity in power between your angelic abilities and the grossly powerful demonic abilities you pick up every level. While the former are permanent, the latter are temporary resources you COULD make permanent at the sacrifice of a demonic and angelic card in your deck. Even then, this is presented as being a trade with the devil, as fallen angel cards provide nothing to your scales of judgement. Each card you use adds to the scales of judgement.
