About Life's Too Short

A little ghost answers a mysterious call...

In Life's Too Short, you take on the role of a celestial problem-solver as you're tasked with repairing a rift between two vampires who have dramatically fallen out and confined themselves to their respective coffins...

Meet the mansion's residents...

You won't be doing this alone! As you explore the mansion, you'll meet a cast of ghastly ghouls and creepy cats (They're all very lovely underneath it all...)

It's the friends we make along the way...?

As you solve simple puzzles in order to put the mansion back together and mend the rift in the vampires' relationship, you'll find that you're spreading your good vibes around the other residents. Leaving things just a bit better than you found them!

You control a ghost who has apparently been summoned to help a vampire couple living in a mansion stop fighting. To do that, you explore the mansion, pick up items, and use them in the right places to make progress. Nothing is highlighted or marked, so you'll need to get close to anything that looks interesting and press the interaction button to see if something happens. Most objects prompt a comment from the ghost, and some can be picked up right away without first discovering their purpose or triggering a related event. Even though you're a ghost, the game doesn't exactly follow the usual rules. You can carry items, and you can't pass through walls or locked doors. I actually liked that choice because it gives you a reason to search for keys instead of simply floating through every obstacle. To use an item, you select it from the inventory, which places it in the ghost's hands, and then interact with the correct spot. Since the item stays equipped until you put it away yourself, it's easy to wander around trying it on everything. There's no feedback when an item doesn't work, which can be a little awkward, but the puzzles are generally logical enough that I rarely felt complet…

I played this originally on the Playdate. It's a fun little game. Reminds me a bit of some of the smaller Adventure Games in the 90s and 2000's.

A short, fetch quest style puzzle game. You play as a small ghost who needs to do a few chores and fetch quests around the mansion to help two vampires who have fallen out with each other. The game was quite fun, though I do wish it were a bit longer and had more music for the different areas. Still, it's not bad, and if you enjoy short puzzle games, I recommend giving it a go.
