The Ghost Cage

RPG Maker strikes again! "The Ghost Cage" is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. Notably, the "developer" couldn't work out how to use RPG Maker to make a JRPG (the only thing it can do, and it's terrible at it). Instead, we have a short pointless e-book/adventure "game" about the developers imaginary girlfriend or something, submitted to a game jam as if he really wrote it instead of stamping out garbage with a construction kit. I mean... that has to be the worst game jam ever when they take asset flips and give them awards. . As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. Very cute, short (it's free!) but it was fun to discover some of the different endings.

it's been a while since I beat this game and got all the endings... well, it was fun, and the story is neat.

Imagine your house is haunted... What will you do? Befriend the ghost or make him go away? Play The Ghost Cage and make your choice. (The ghost is cute & not scary, don't worry) The game is kinda short if you're aiming for 1 ending. Probably 1-2 hour if you want to get all 7 ending. The gameplay is quite straightforward. No puzzle involved. The ghost can't chase or kill you. Every action you do will affect the relationship between you & the ghost. Your ending will based on what you choose to do. Personally, I think nothing really standout in this game, but I do love the interaction with the ghost. It have some funny & adorable moment. Consider to play this game if you're looking for something short & easy to play.

I like the multiple ending and the music and character design is good

A spooky yet sad yet sweet and certainly spirited short RPGMaker game! Though not all of the assets are unique there are a few specific details that show the effort put into crafting the environment such as the different shapes you can turn the blood/paint splatter into or the different portraits for Isabel while wearing the two available costumes which stood out to me. Additionally the vibrant colours of the game mesh well with its not quite serious tone and the use of light is also quite nice. Each day has a different piece of music playing in the background, which all are very enjoyable and thematic enough. While there are no direct puzzles to figure out as such there are quite a few endings to find based on the various actions and dialogue choices you can make. Still most of those are quite easy to find as well, especially since you are limited in what you can do which may be regarded as a strength of this game. In terms of story you can essentially go down two routes, either befriending and helping the ghost or being hostile towards it and driving it out of the house. There are also a few side achievements. All of this is wrapped up in mostly light-hearted with a dash of heart…
