Light Borrower

Fairly unique puzzle game. It's a little challenging at parts, but nothing impossible, and no moon logic. Worth trying if you like puzzles.

[i]Light Borrower[/i] is a respectable, mostly casual puzzle game in which you twist and slide stuff around to try to shine light in the right spot(s). The trailer gives a very good indication of gameplay. It's pretty straightforward. Nothing epic, not bad for an afternoon. 34 levels, first playthrough will probably take >1h but <2h. Then there's some more abstract/tedious hidden stuff to keep you going for another 1h or so if you have the patience: there are actually 2 ways to "beat" each level, there's an alternate ending, and you'll have to scour the post-apocalyptic cult narrative-text to find some hidden info. The main challenge on a level is that most slidey/rotatey bits are locked until you manage to get light onto them. So you start with one light, need to shine it onto the next control-point to activate that, then need to reconsider the level now that you have more control over it, etc. And you can't see what's going on in the dark, of course. Backing out of a level resets it, functioning as an "Undo" though it isn't really necessary. The story is revealed through various notes and books you find throughout the game. Each piece of writing belongs to one of four main characters, and as you collect them, you unlock their stories bit by bit. In short, the plot centers around Charlie, an electrician who had a vision of the apocalypse and ended up starting a cult. Then there’s Jess, a journalist who decided to investigate the cult, Robert, Charlie’s loyal second-in-command, and Leah, the daughter of Jess and Charlie. And then there’s Rachel, the main character you’re trying to save from the strange situation she’s caught in. Relationships between the characters are not a spoiler because everything is revealed right away. The main challenge ahead is known as the Cleansing, which is meant to guide you along a path of enlightenment by completing a series of puzzles. Each scene takes place in a single room where you can click on various notes and interact with puzzles. Every room contains several puzzles, and often they can be tackled in any order. Interesting premise. You rotate, slide and move a light source to open up other control points to rotate, slide and move more things. Repeat until you beat the level by lighting the final control point. The most frustrating part is the finnicky controls that are often not as intuitive. Light will sometimes clip through things and activate/deactivate things unexpectedly.

Good short puzzle game. all of the puzzles were different which can be done twice for different endings. I really do suggest doing a completely plain run then go back into the save after the credits to do the bonus stuff. Story and lore is interesting wouldn't mind seeing how they got on in the past/after. the one i had the most trouble with was on the last level on the bottom right found it really difficult for some reason.
