A nice little visual novel game that's well made and decently written with a nice visual design. There are multiple endings, but the path feels rather forced, and some things aren't really a choice because you'll just insta-lose. But still, it's free, it's enjoyable, and it's easy to get all the different endings and achievements. A nice game.

Such a good story, and lots of potential replays to get all of the achievements! I really liked how each choice affected the story. All of the characters are great and believable for this world. I must play again and again!

A very cool take on the zombie genre! Really love the the artstyle, especially for the backgrounds!

The Dust of the Violet Crystals is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Ren'Py construction kit job at least has a slightly novel idea coupled with the usual high school anime club dropout fan-fiction writing. There's some dust and it turns everyone into "listless" shadow zombies... whatever. But at the end of the day, it's just the usual cringe fan-fiction from an unpublishable "author". Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have t…
