About There The Light

Explore an unknown and abandoned world. Each step, each puzzle, brings you closer to discovering the history and secrets of a lost civilization. Can you find the light?

There The Light is a short single-player, first-person puzzle exploration game. The game is split into 4 separate linear levels, each takes you deeper into the heart of the planet. I wanted to create an immersive world where story, visuals and music are merged together in interesting and creative ways. There The Light features 50 puzzles, and a soundtrack that grows and forms based on the interactions that you make in-game.

There The Light is a contemplative first-person exploration and puzzle experience that prioritizes atmosphere, symbolism, and quiet discovery over traditional gameplay intensity. Developed and published by CasualBebop, the game presents itself as a short but carefully constructed journey through an abandoned, enigmatic world where light, sound, and space serve as the primary means of communication. Rather than relying on explicit storytelling or mechanical complexity, it invites players to slow down, observe their surroundings, and gradually uncover meaning through interaction with the environment itself. The premise places the player in a deserted realm shaped by an unknown civilization, with no direct exposition explaining who you are or what happened. Progression unfolds across a small number of linear chapters, each introducing new locations that feel both ancient and subtly otherworldly. The absence of characters or dialogue creates a strong sense of isolation, reinforcing the feeling that you are walking through the remnants of something long gone. This narrative restraint encourages interpretation, allowing players to form their own understanding of the world’s history base…

As many other reviews have stated, if you're looking for a puzzle game that will present you with any kind of a serious challenge, you won't find that here. But I did enjoy this game because I was more interested in experiencing the visuals and atmosphere and music. I also enjoyed the light narrative of the civilization that rose and fell, though I wished there was a little more there to grab onto. Overall, it was good at one of the things it was trying to be, and it was my luck that that was what I was looking for.

Listen, if you want deep gameplay or a challenging game, this might not be for you. What this is is a short, meditative walking simulator with a bunch of (I think somewhat optional?) puzzles. If you want to walk around some simple beautiful levels for a while, clicking on puzzle elements until they fall into place naturally, I highly recommend this. It's elegant in it's simplicity and it doesn't overstay it's welcome.

It's fine, but not worth 5 dollars. Get it on a steam sale or skip bois
