Players appreciate the game's atmosphere and unique narrative approach within the liminal/backrooms genre, with some finding it worthwhile for its price and story-driven experience. However, many criticize the lack of intuitive gameplay mechanics, poor tutorial or instruction system, repetitive level design featuring mostly empty rooms and pools, and frustrating technical issues like no save function or quit option, making it inaccessible to newcomers and less compelling compared to better-established titles in the genre.
There's no instructions and the game isn't intuitive. There's no options. How to jump? How to use a flashlight? Do I need to find a flashlight first? All of this is a mystery for you to solve. For me, that's not fun. Somebody else might enjoy that. Instead you end up wandering around a school with low-quality graphics wishing the designers had started with something interesting to see that even hinted at what's on the store page. And there's no way to quit the game. No way to save your progress. No way to get back to the main menu. Maybe once you figure it out and get further into it it's cool, I don't know, but they lost me already, so I'll never get to find out.1 found this helpful
It's alright, but definitely not the best. I would recommend it if it was free.
This managed to be one of the laziest games in a videogame genre plagued by laziness. Every room was either a massive, empty room with a pool in it, a long hallway with a pool in it, or a massive room with upscaled unity assets and a pool in it.
it's good. ive seen better liminal walking games but this has it's own spin on it. similiar to games like the lost painter and liminal lane. worth the price 100%. update review: if you are out of other high quality liminal games this one might be for you. This is a liminal game that has a story. if you read my last painter and liminal lane review, the kind of narrative im talking about is not seen often in this genre. That narrative is through text, and its not a lot. but it wraps up the game into a nice conherent package. The levels, statues, story, and ending all work together nicely. I look forwards to this persons next project. If you are into dreamlike, calm liminal exploration, this isnt your cup of tea. but if you dont mind a more "backrooms" horror mixed with the liminal exploration game format this is not a bad choice. especially for the low price.
While the game has decent length to it (a bit over an hour), it is very linear in terms of level design. If you are expecting maze style levels with lots of exploration, keep moving. For the price, you aren't losing much by playing the game. However, if you're going to invest an hour in to this, you might as well be playing one of the more popular poolrooms / backrooms titles.
really cool and atmospheric
