Lodventure

I'm only five hours in, and I have to say—Lodventure is shaping up to be a serious grind fest. The gameplay loop feels like an endless cycle of collecting resources just to repair your constantly breaking gear. That might be tolerable if there were meaningful progression, but the skill system is incredibly underwhelming. You earn skill points, allocate them into different abilities, and... nothing really changes. The skills feel almost cosmetic—like fake skills. Whether you put points into mining, combat, or anything else, the result feels exactly the same. There's no real sense of power growth or satisfaction. On top of that, the game just feels shallow. There's a core idea here that could be fun, but it desperately needs a deeper, more impactful skill tree—something that actually makes you excited to level up and experiment with builds. As it stands now, Lodventure is too repetitive and lacking in meaningful progression to keep my interest. If you’re looking for a satisfying loop of grind and reward, this one doesn’t quite deliver.

For $2.99, the game is decent. I only recommend this game if you're getting it for free or less than $5. This game is just the open world, survival, crafting equivalent of the game Stolen Realm. If you really liked the art style of that game, you'll probably appreciate this game. There's not a whole lot to do. The game is super grindy (and thus artificially lengthening the game), but also doesn't have fast reload times for the resources. It just doesn't feel like a complete product. Would have rather had real voice actors or just rambling noises instead of the A.I. generated/Robot voices.

Not bad at all, as far as building/crafting games go. The only real downside is riding horses. They use some random garbage keybinds to control the horses, which makes them very difficult to use. Other than that— I'd say it's worth buying as long as there is any amount of a Steam Discount.

After playing the game for over 17 hours solo and getting all of the achievements, here are my honest thoughts of Lodventure. [h2]Pros[/h2] Lodventure has a charming atmosphere and easy to learn crafting mechanics. The combat felt very Diablo like with the way you attack, using skills with cooldowns, and being able to dodge oncoming attacks. The bosses did add a nice bit of variety (some notes on that later), and the exploration did have something of interest in the environment in both the overworlds, caves, and dungeons. [h2]Cons[/h2] I'll try to keep spoilers out of this review but when it comes to story, there isn't much to it. There is a cut scene at the beginning, a bunch of lore scroll that you can pick up here and there, and then a cut scene after beating the last boss. No connection to the characters that are introduced, and you aren't even playing as any of the 4 characters that are introduced, which makes them an odd plot point to the story. For the scrolls that you pick up, I read maybe 2 at most because each had 2 paragraphs of explanation in a world that could have tried adding to the overall plot through environmental story telling.
