About Lucky Dog 1

✦ AI summary

Lucky Dog 1 is a fully voiced BL visual novel where you play as a mobster tasked with breaking four crime family captains out of prison in exchange for a shot at the top of the criminal hierarchy. Navigate prison breaks, gang conflicts, and romantic pursuits with four charismatic criminals in this stylish indie thriller written by the creator of Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome.

Lucky Dog 1, from renowned indie BL developer Tennenouji, is finally available in English! They've only got one shot to get back on top. Good thing luck is on their side.It all starts with the slam of a prison door. Four captains from the same Mafia family, the CR:5, are taken out in one fell swoop and left to rot behind bars——but they're in luck because our hero, Gian, is already there. While Gian's normally just a run-of-the-mill wiseguy doing petty jobs for the family while he's on the outside and taking it easy while he's in the slammer, that all changes when he gets a call from the boss: if he can break the captains out, he'll be rewarded with a spot at the top of the hierarchy. Can he pull off a job this big, or is it more than even Gian's fabled good luck can manage? With everything from prison breaks, going on the lamb, conflicts with rival gangs and four fellow criminals to pursue passionate (uncensored!) relations with, you're in for a real thrill! The game is fully voiced and several voices that are sure to sound awfully familiar. The flagship title of indie BL game developer, Tennenouji. Written by Jinnai (founder of Kalmia8, director of Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome and Fxxx Me Royally!!) with stylish art by Yura (Hana Awase, Absolute Obedience, Enzai).

✦ AI summary

Lucky Dog 1 is a yaoi visual novel that has surprised players with its witty writing, charming protagonist Gian, and impressive localization effort that adapts Japanese terminology thoughtfully for an English-speaking audience. Players consistently praise the character development and distinctive relationship dynamics across multiple love interests, though some note that having a walkthrough guide on hand is helpful for navigation.

If Aoba is Yaoi Jesus, then Gian is Yaoi Moses. I've only seen the fanart for this game in the past, so experiencing it for myself (and uncensored!!!) has truly enlightened me. I was so prepared for mid writing and basic story in place for the yaoi plot, but it's surprised me! The writing is so funny, Gian as the protag has so much personality fitting for the story. Now that I'm hyper-fixated on this damn game, it makes me sad that we don't have the translations for the other spin-off games. I NEED MORE GIAN!

luckydog1 is in my top 3 visual novels of All Time™. Naturally, it's the best BLVN I've ever played. And I've played a ♥♥♥♥ ton. Don't fujoke with me. You think nitro+chiral and parade is good until you dip your feet into the luckydog1 universe. Don't let the outdated 2009 artstyle scare you. Please. I swear you get used to it and realise how fitting it is for this game like, 10 minutes in. I've come to love Yura's 2009 artstyle so much. Also, learn to appreciate the heisei artstyle! Don't be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥! (And honestly, if you can stomach togainu no chi's artstyle, I don't want you bashing on luckydog1's art) I could type a 10 page essay on why the writing, characters, romance, and worldbuilding in this game is kino, but I'll save you some time. Pros: + Romance: The best I've ever experienced in a BLVN - luckydog1 doesn't have a "True/Truth Route" unlike other BLVNs, which is a huge indicator that tells you the writer isn't pushing for a "canon couple" or "canon route" and thus does not revolve writing his story around the Truth route. Every single love interest has an equal amount of care put into them, and so you end up shipping all the pairings (though of course you'll still en…

it was more fun than i expected! i love gian and ivan and luchino aaaa also the translation is really good. at some point i looked up what a 'puppy's tail' was (i can hear the meaning in japanese but i wanted to see where the term came from in english) and it seemed period accurate as a 20th century slang! i can feel the effort put towards localizing it in a way that is only possible in english (due to it being set in america and the terminology being there compared to the original japanese that don't have words for these). it felt very immersive throughout. gian is seriously an amazing mc through all of the routes and his interactions with each LI are distinctive. i would also love a +bad egg translation please

I liked how the price matched the gameplay and the multiple love interests. Would recommend this game and Dramatical Murder for likeness. Overall do whatever suits you, before purchasing I do advise you watch videos of gameplay if there is any, to ensure it's to your liking. Take Care Everyone. (I highly suggest looking for a walkthrough Guide for this game as well.)
