Unluckily in Love

Unluckily in Love is a kinetic visual novel (linear, no choices) about two troubled cousins and their relationship changing into something more than cousins. If you are not capable of handling incest content then you probably shouldn't get the free adult patch. Anyway, the younger cousin is named Yuel and he is a scrawny, socially awkward nerd who has been under the shadow and pressure of his father for all of his life. Suddenly, his wealthy but distant father dies and Yuel is thrown for a loop trying to keep himself intact. He doesn't have any friends or any social skills since he devoted most of his life to studying to appease his father. The other cousin is the older and flirtatious Tavi who is one of the few, if not the only person, who tries to help Yuel. Although Tavi himself isn't a paragon or a role model himself, he is a f*ck boy who likes to sleep his problems away with anyone hot enough. He can't even be bothered to remember any of their names. Despite all of this, he holds a soft spot for his younger cousin and tries his best even when Yuel is being a drama queen. Probably just not for me but the story was a little boring, I ended up just spamming through a majority of it because I just couldn't get interested in it.

edited to be less emotionally charged i'm not very far in but in my opinion, tavi is kind of rude and inconsiderate. i know nothing about these characters, though they seem to have established lore, based on what others have said, but introducing tavi as someone who smokes indoors, comments on waitstaffs' asses, and is like "i'm just a free spirit" personally leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. the waitstaff in question is already clearly having a bad night and the fact that he doesn't respect them as people is a major turn-off for me. maybe he gets better later, but right now, he's clearly supposed to be the kind of character who breaks the rules and gets yuel to loosen up from being so tight-laced or whatever. to me, he's not the cool, suave playboy badboy, he's rude and disrespectful and it's not for me. so far, the writing has been good, as well as the art, which is fantastic, i just don't like this character we're supposed to like as the romantic interest

I absolutely adore Tavi and Yuel and have played every game with them in it so far. My natural personality is very similar to Yuel's except I'm not as self-loathing as he is, so I can really put myself in his shoes when I'm playing these games. They completely send me on a roller coaster ride of emotions, and I love every minute of it. This particular game is one of my favorites. The art is top tier in my opinion, and the story really focuses on the feelings of isolation and acceptance. Being that the pair are cousins, there's some of that "I shouldn't but I can't help it" thing, but it can also be read as someone raised in a homophobic home coming to terms with their feelings towards someone of the same gender. I can imagine a lot of people who would enjoy this game for that aspect alone. Tavi always does his best to make Yuel feel loved and accepted despite the surly attitude he has, and he has no problem giving the emotional and physical attention Yuel so desperately needs. Tavi just laughs away Yuel's more acerbic comments and continues on like nothing happened. Thoroughly delightful, smutty (with patch) BL visual novel. The build-up is slow, but not frustratingly so, and I liked the characters a lot. I like how easy it is to replay chapters, including the smut. It also makes my freaky little heart very happy that Yuel is a masochist. The bonus story was excellent and answered a need I did not know I had - namely, the need to see an adorably tsundere Arab twink with cat ears, getting railed in a maid costume by his cousin.
