Brings back nice memories. I actually never finished the game when I was younger. The fact you can't save progress is the reason, plus I'm kind of dumb. Anyway, I wish the re-release of game would have had option to save progress. I guess that would've required time and money that the "big whigs" weren't willing to dish out money for. Oh well. Still a classic game.1 found this helpful
Classic point & click released in 1987, a living fossil in the AI age. Control is wacky, no BGM (not sure if it's the game or my setting), pixelated graphics, still recommend all to all gamers, give it a try, see how far you will go.
I loved the NES version as a kid and since this is the only version on Steam I've got to recommend this classic. That being said, it doesn't have those classic music tracks that really helped that version stand out. There are also some bugs and an unintuitive user experience. So, while the base game is worth playing ... it also isn't going to totally help any NES version fans fully re-live that nostalgia nor be the best experience for a modern gamer interested in this classic.
Maniac Mansion is a classic point & click adventure that still shines with creativity and charm. Coming from only having played the NES version, waaay back in the day, experiencing the original PC release feels like seeing the game as it was truly meant to be. The multiple characters, branching paths, and quirky humor give it a surprising amount of depth and replayability, while its simple interface laid the groundwork for so many adventure games that followed. It’s clever, weird, and endlessly inventive - a foundational classic that still holds up as a fun and memorable experience. And if these sort of games are your thing, and you haven't experienced Maniac Mansion yet, you should.

Mechanics and features: We can choose two students for our team. Select a command at the bottom of the screen, and then the item on the stage you want to perform that command on.
Talk about moldy oldy. Played this game when it came out and it used to scare me.
