About MaryPark St.
MaryPark St. is a short story telling indie game, set in a black and white dream-like world. Following the main character, trying to get to his friend who seems to always be busy, as each day feels more and more repetitive. Additionally now as a free update it includes the second interpretation of the story, called "The Nightmare".
BECAUSE LOVE NEVER DIES

Easy to play: Generic controls: arrow keys for movement, and Z key to interact.
Intriguing Storyline: This game adheres to themes of isolation and self-reflection. MaryPark St. was designed to appeal to mass demographic whilst having it’s short but unique story.
Unique Atmosphere: The world of MaryPark St. is entirely black and white. With smooth lineart and only essential details, the setting is ominous and bleak.
Original Soundtrack
Playtime: Between 10 - 15 minutes.

This is a very simple game that tells a surrealistic story. The minimalistic graphics works for the story being told. While I don't personally think the story was that interesting, it's not bad either. It feels kind of average. The gameplay is just walking around and reading through dialogue. Animations are very simple, though in a way that feels intentional. The music, when it's there, feels quite fitting. That said, I think there's value in spending a few minutes playing through this game for the art piece that it is, and seen as the whole of all its parts. Because that's how I see it. It may not be Rubens or Munch, but it's a small piece of art worth appreciating, despite(or even because of) its amateuristic flaws. Even the greats were amateurs once. 100% in about 20 minutes.1 found this helpful

My Experience MaryPark St. is a challenge to review. It contains two frustratingly aimless gameplay sections, and in each I considered calling it quits. However - without these sections, would the game so vividly create the emotional experience that it does? There are points in life (or there have been points in my life, at least) where you are so desperate for companionship and connection, that you go on dates with people that you are clearly incompatible with and maintain stale text conversations in the hopes that the two of you will eventually experience some miraculous and magical connection. When self-worth is contingent upon the creation of real relationships from these bad seeds, it can be difficult to perceive that you're trying to draw water from an empty well. You just push forward, over and over again, into a wall. There are other sources of water around, but they might as well be invisible. Developer Starless Studios depicts this emotional state through their game much better than I ever could through words. If you'd like a game that creates a unique emotion for the player not often seen in gaming (as opposed to power, wonder, etc.), give MaryPark St. a tr…1 found this helpful
