It's not a game that holds your hand. When you fail you just think about what you could have done differently and after a few tries.. you get gud! 🤷‍♂️ Exactly what the great sidescrollers of the past did for us. The mechanics are very good and fun for the style of game it is. The ONLY complaint I have is having to manually switch between sword and bow before you can use them is kind of annoying.. but I can live with it as the rest of the action seems pretty tight to me.. and that's actually better than what most 2D platformers bring these days. It's an 8/10 for me. Would check out another game from this dev. 👍

8/10 solid game, the fighting is very crunchy and satisfying. the shogun samurai theme is amazing. art animations drew me in. the corpse sprites and blood will remain on the ground throughout your playthrough so the aftermath of battles is always there! nice touch I look for. I also played the first 2 hours on a laptop notebook and the tiny keyboard was driving me nuts I had no mouse either but soon got the hang of it. parrying is a major game changer if you time the parry perfect you will 1 shot enemies and a wicked death animation occurs! like slicing a ronin almost completely in half!! or cracking right through a pesky shield samurai and killing him where he stands! I noticed on some sprites have more then just 1 death animation. you have a decent amount of move sets to play with like rolling, dodging, lightning dodge, light attack, heavy attack (special) jump attack, parry, stab and they can be used in combo to get some sweet fighting scenes that feel again satisfying. Hello Im Skill Incarnate and Welcome to My Games Review Series. My reviews cover indie games that i have bought, had gifted to me and have been provided by developers for review. In this episode I return to one of my favourite genres, Soulslikes, with the Samurai themed game Meifumado. This game is the breakout title by small developer Old Bit Studio, who also worked on the side scrolling shooter game Gun Rage. Meifumado is a Soulslike with a unique Japanese Samurai meets steampunk setting. The player controls an unnamed samurai, brought to life for the purpose of defeating the shogun, a demonic entity ruling japan thanks to an army of demonic creatures and robotic warriors. Pitted against impossible odds, the player will need to master the art of the sword in a series of deadly duels against dozens of ferocious foes and 6 immensely challenging bosses who will test your skills to their limit. Thankfully the game features some excellent controls and an easy to learn but hard to master combat system that rewards decisive action.
