just finished it for the first time in like 15 years. i know some people have technical issues - for me it aged perfectly, first time launch it just opened at my monitor refresh rate in widescreen, no mouse issues, no stuttering, ran flawlessly. its so peak, THE war campaign. very unique gunplay with cool difficulty design, you can't just straight up rambo a level. you can't fully rely on your weapon shots to land with 100% accuracy, and if you stick ur butt out without thinkin it gon get smashed real fast by 10 horny vietnamese boys. BUT you still feel like a one man army. amazing level design with a lot of variety, you got all iconic vietnam war guns as well, all most important historic battles, great voice acting, some funny squad dialogue. there's a pretty cool personal story where you get to know a soldier, his family and squad through letters and conversations. the soundtrack is GOATED still (as it should be, it was a great era of music). it also doesn't demonize or glorify any of the sides of the conflict, just tells it how it was. americans burn down villages out of personal revenge masquerading it as a tactical decision while north vietnamese army gen*cide Catholics, pre…1 found this helpful
While it has many flaws that really frustrated me throughout gameplay (lack of manual saves, checkpoints that require doing levels over and over again, insane hit scan enemies that can one hit kill you even when you're in full health on higher difficulties, and the inability to jump at all in the game), it was still a decent enough spiritual sequel to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault with some ups and downs.1 found this helpful
I thought this would be pretty bad based on the negative reviews. There are valid points, but a few thoughts A: There are no bugs and this game runs perfectly (not common for these old games) B: Great soundtrack voice acting, writing, and environmental design. C: I love having ADS and this game doesn't have it. I thought that would bother me a lot more than it did. You get used to it very quickly D: The gameplay is repetitive, but I didn't mind. It is challenging enough to stay interesting. On medium difficulty it is fun without being too hard or easy. Most people complaining about difficulty are probably playing on Hard.
Never played this game before, reminds me of Battlefield Vietnam but with more realism.
I love Vietnam war era games and i would like to have more, but this is a terrible exp. You can beat it yeah but don't expect to have a fun time.
Works and is pretty good.
