Methods: The Canada Files

It's a little bit like comparing Danganronpa and Danganronpa 2. The second game might be "better" in an absolute sense - better mysteries, better writing and so on - but the first game's meta-mystery was more or less solved, so a big piece of it all is missing as a matter of course. You already played Methods - and if you haven't, stop looking at this and go play that instead - so you already know more or less how the contest is run, what is the true nature of the Game Master and so on. You're playing this because you want to know [i]more[/i], as "HE" was very clear about having an intricate plan of awesome scale. And because the writing was good. Well, the writing is even better. The mysteries are a mess with lots of interpretations, and I felt left behind relatively quickly. Still, due to the more group-oriented style of this contest, this didn't really sting - some detectives also felt confused at certain parts, but shone during others - so in a sense, I felt like I'm right there, participating with them. Truly enjoyed this game so much! I live in Canada and all the uniquely Canadian touches were so pleasing. The characters were all incredibly charming (especially Larika, my beloved), I loved the quirky art style, and the mysteries were all quite engaging (very much a step-up from the previous game). The Stage Six mastermind is one of the most compelling villains I've seen in a bit in a love-to-hate kind of way. Getting near the ending became steadily more agonizing because you know from the previous game what ultimately happens... However, this didn't really detract from the experience to me; if anything, it heightened emotions because I became quite invested in Larika's arc. Can't wait for the sequel!

This is fascinating game. Characters, drawing, story - all is captivating, and marvelously fits all-together. But the most impressive part for me - is the drawing style, of course. 1. Most of the characters are women, which gives me the though, that the developer/illustrator is woman. 2. They are NOT sexualized at all. Like, really. They even feel uncomfortable. But that's the point, actually! You don't need to stuck to visual parameters, but more to character and its depth. Overall, one of my favorite games so far! P.S. too bad second part doesn't fall under expectations...

Just like "The Detective Competition", this prequel is simply fantastic! The strongest point again are the wonderfully weird characters and their banter dynamics. The setting is also used to its full advantage.

More methods but Canadian, But joking aside , It is a prequel story to the First methods game same great art, music ,story ,puzzles and characters you'd expect from a LockedOn games. i kind of forgot/ kind of remembered that ending for this was already set.so even in the last chapter as I playing is was still hoping again hope that is would end different . I was super invested and played almost non stop, and was on my edge of my seat at the end it really is that good!. this was originally early access but I basically treated it like a Kickstarter .I bought played for a like a second ,then waited till is full released before I started playing for real. there are lots of extras to unlock including insight into the making of the game which was interesting to read.

spoiler free*: a fun mystery visual novel that i didnt realize was a sequell, with Plenty of content for the asking price. as someone who doesnt frequent the mystery game genre, the game was very approachable, only major issue i had durring my playthrough was some of the clues in the second case file felt very abstract and made the case a little harder than it was supposed to be. originally i planned on complaining about that, but after reading the dev notes that were included with the game, my feedback would've been redundant. the investigation sections were quite engaging, getting a top-down view of the 3d location. the autopsy minigame was simple but the visuals were clear and readable, they also had a distinct look to them assisted by the robot's uncanny design that made each autopsy just a little off-feeling (in a good way). the ending didnt land great with me especially without some of the context from the first methoods game. easy recomend for visual novel enjoyers. i will be playing the first methoods game soon and watching for the next title in the series
