Case Solved: The London Files

Mixed feelings on this one. The actual cases/story content were enjoyable, but they're bookended by 42 fairly tedious logic puzzles. It's also missing a basic feature you'd expect from any grid-based logic puzzle: the ability to mark off false deductions as well as true ones, not just confirm what's correct.

After finishing the main story and trying to access the 'Classified' cases, I don't think I can happily recommend this game. First and foremost, the game is very upfront that it is not a complex puzzle game; it's very clear in the description that is revolves around one mechanic and that there's no real story. I'm fine with that, that's what I signed up for. I also want to say how good the art is and how user-friendly the whole UI is. The art is charming and so is the dialogue (though I found myself accidentally skipping through some of it, which is a shame). What I'm disappointed by is the way the bulk of the cases are hidden behind codes, and how sparse that makes the game feels compared to other games at a similar price point. I finished the 'main story' of this game in about an hour and a half which seems in line with other reviews. It also doesn't make sense to insist this is a cosy game with no complex story/puzzling, but then you also have to go and find 42 specific codes like its an ARG. I see in replies to other reviews the developers have said you can just email them or look at one of the user guides to get the codes, but I also don't want to type in 42 codes to acces…

Only three cases which were super easy and quick, which is fine, but then a lot more puzzles are locked behind some codes that you just... have to guess? They do give you a link to the complete list of codes but what is the point. They should have made collecting the codes part of the gameplay at least.

Was playing the game and I started to see artwork that looks like Ai and I am really not interested. The game credits list an Art Director but no artists. I'm just not interested and am going to return. Note: I don't see anywhere on their store page that lists AI was used. I took a picture of one in game character drawing that had the strangest hands. lol. Obvious AI.
