What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise the game as a relaxing, meditative stone-carving experience with satisfying progression through unlockable improvements, though they consistently note it's quite short and could benefit from more variety in tasks and shapes. Common complaints include AI-generated voice acting that detracts from immersion, repetitive gameplay that becomes boring, distracting visual elements like overly-animated grass, and concerns about energy consumption relative to visual quality, with several players wishing for more substantial content and better-implemented storytelling.
The characters and their voices are AI slop. It's extremely distracting and turned me off before I could properly start. Bought in a bundle, but refunding both.8 found this helpful
This game is really boring
I really enjoy this game but it is too short. hoping they will add few task to do as well as updated achievements.
not bad
Very relaxing stone-digging experience with pre-made shapes. There are some nice aspects: * You gain experience to unlock improvements for sculpting, mostly larger areas. It’s basic, but still satisfying to grind through. * Some shapes allow you to dig the bottom and make it collapse for massive experience. Just wish there was an extra bonus on top. That said, a few things could be better: * The grass moves too wildly, which feels distracting rather than relaxing. * Too few shapes and too many animals. * It uses a lot of energy for the amount of visuals you actually see, mostly just the stone you’re digging, even though the visuals themselves are nice. It even has a story, however I am not a big fan of stories, and the one given is not really fun. Its more a dialog between you and some women. I would love to see a DLC with more shapes or a 2nd part.
Michelangelo: Stonemason Simulator is an unusual and meditative entry in the simulation genre, developed and published by Three River Games (3RG). Rather than casting you as a modern craftsman or an overseer of industrial machinery, the game places you in the role of a young Michelangelo during the late 15th century, long before he became a Renaissance icon. It invites you to focus on the quiet, tactile craft of shaping stone—chipping away raw material, smoothing surfaces, and slowly coaxing recognizable forms out of marble blocks. From the outset, the game makes it clear that it has no interest in rushing you or overwhelming you with management layers; instead, it embraces a calming, almost meditative rhythm that emphasizes craftsmanship over complexity. The core gameplay revolves around using a handful of tools to sculpt increasingly complex shapes. You begin with simple blocks and straightforward assignments—columns, geometric shapes, architectural pieces—but the missions gradually introduce more ambitious works that gesture toward the legendary sculptures Michelangelo would eventually create. Each task asks you to observe the target model, identify which portions of the stone …
