About MISKATONIC
Meet Howard Lovecraft, a boy who’s already battled Elder Gods and nameless horrors. He now must face his greatest challenge yet, school. In the VR game you can join Howard on magical, spooky adventures in the world of Miskatonic University. You must help him complete a set of magical tasks in the classroom… and more! Do you have the power? Shout your spells. Miskatonic is a VR magic voice-controlled shooter, with a unique style of casting spells and fighting the darkness. The player will find themselves in Howard’s classroom at Miskatonic as they tackle spells and monsters with their very own powers. There are prominent tones of problem-solving and exploration within the experience.

"MISKATONIC" is another case of an amateur developer exhuming the corpse of HP Lovecraft to abuse a public domain IP because they lack any creativity of their own. In this case they never actually read any HP Lovecraft because names aside this has nothing to do with his works. It's just a pointless VR tech demo, a wave survival shooter so bland the developer couldn't even work out how to do locomotion in VR so you're stuck in one spot. It's hard to put it words just how incredibly lame this is. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn. What do you do in the game? Wave survival shooting from a static position. Even Time Crisis had a better deal going on in the 1990's arcades. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. I'm not sure if this is an asset flip, but it's one of those cases where the assets just look much better than the…
Spells aren't hard to pronounce The issue is that 2 of the spells are useless The levitate spell is fun to mess around with but while fighting off enemies it is better using the fire blast spell the shield spell is to protect from incoming attacks but the activation time is way to long So that just leaves you with one spell, the fire blast spell. Trying to mess around with the menu is annoying as you can barely see the pointer. Still pretty cool that we have to say the spells to activate them.
Before I played MISKATONIC, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
What an absolutely horrible "game". The "game" looks like it's from 1980 but was apparently released in 2021?? I think the devs need to look at what is "current gen" and re-evaluate. Besides the barren landscapes and low quality textures, the game itself is very choppy, the audio is poor, and the "experience" is honestly pathetic. Nobody can even pronounce your "magical words" and attempting to pronounce them makes you feel like an idiot. I understand this game is free, but honestly - quit while you are ahead. There is nothing here, just like your movies.
Yes its free so credit where credit is due. I couldnt pronounce or figure out how to say the spells in the toutorial so I could only cast the levitate one. Couldnt really go far with that. So maybe shorter words than longish ones to get the sounds right?
